Hi, I just had my gynae appointment following lap and confirming endo. They said that because I want to have children (but not currently in a situation to) I am better to take hormones now than leave it and to have worse issues in five years time.
I can’t have combined pill due to risk of stroke and every single time I’ve tried a progesterone only pill I’m depressed/suicidal by month three. The implant has the same drugs as progesterone only pill and the depo injection scares me with hearing about side effects.
I feel I had a handle on the pain before my surgery so this choice would just be to minimise how quickly it comes back.
Are there any names of progesterone only pills that you’ve found that haven’t made you depressed when the first ones issued do (carazette etc)?
Or should I just leave it and hope for the best? I honestly don’t know what to do!
Thank you

The depot injection, if you mean depo provera, basically is progesterone and certainly wouldn’t be a good idea as you can’t change your mind once you’ve had it. My understanding is that hormones like the pill/ coil / whatever do not stop endo progressing they just deal with the symptoms ( for some people). If you have had several tries on progesterone then it probably isn’t for you but nothing to stop you trying a different brand as you are now aware of what to look out for if you mood starts to dip.
The way gynae spoke at my appointment it was very much saying taking progesterone pill or implant would stop it progressing as quickly. The way they put it was to do something now rather than wait five years to have a baby and I’m a ‘mess’ in there. I’ve read about a natural progesterone called prometrium so not sure wether to try that. The coil made the pain worse for me and I gave it 9 months. It’s hard to say if the hormones in that dipped my mood because of the increase in pain but also had lots of side effects. Yes they found and removed ‘significant’ endo in several places.
