Hi.. I have been prescribed Dienogest by my endo specialist to help control my pain symptoms whilst I wait on excision surgery, does anyone have any experience with this drug they could share? I have been looking into the side effects just wondering how common they actually are. Thanks ☺️

I have also just been prescribed this but looking at some older posts on this, there seem to be quite a few side effects. I am a little nervous about taking it now, but it is an option for me before I embark on my second surgery.
Please do let me know how you get on!
Looking at this study contemporaryobgyn.net/view/... (though not sure how reliable it is) the side effects I’m most concerned about are reasonable common:
The most common side effect was abnormal vaginal bleeding, consisting of prolonged and frequent uterine bleeding or spotting (16.6%), followed by weight gain (8.3%), headache (8.3%), depressed mood (8.3%), dizziness (4.1%) and libido reduction (4.1%).
Wishing you all the best of luck and sorry you’re also going through this.
I've been on it since September and I'm also awaiting surgery like you. I was very scared of the side effects to. I do not get on well with artificial hormones. Out of everything I've tried this has been the most manageable from a mental health view. Sometimes I'm more down or anxious but I'm also perimenopausal so had to say for certain the cause. I've had headaches and my hair is probably a bit lanker than before. I also gained half a stone in weight which I just can't shift. This is frustrating as I'm now classified as overweight according to my BMI and my cholesterol is a little raised. On the plus side I've only had little bleeding/spotting for a few days this calendar year where as before I was super heavy/flooding each month so it's helping me function while I wait for surgery.
