Endometriosis and Coffee?

Hi, apologies if this is a stupid question. In pain and think I am missing the science. When following a anti inflammatory diet for Endometriosis; coffee is always listed as something to avoid. Is it the caffeine or something else in coffee itself? I suppose I’m asking does anyone know whether decaffeinated coffee is considered okay? Thank you hope you’re all doing well.

Hi. I can’t remember and I’m away at the moment so can’t check but I definitely used decaf tea and coffee alongside peppermint tea and lemon with ginger which both seemed to be be soothing when I was strictly following the endo diet. I have found I’m ok with a coffee or two these days ( not decaf) but any more would niggle. Hope you are finding it helps, I was very sceptical about diet helping but it did and then working out my trigger food was very helpful. Good luck. Xx

Hi - I love coffee but it's awful for my endo! Well the caffeine is mainly. De-caf is much better but need to be careful, not all caffeine is removed in the process of making de-caf so will likely still have some caffeine in. The main thing is how the coffee is de-caffeinated a lot of it is via a chemical process which then makes de-caf probably just as inflammatory.. I only drink de-caf that is processed via Swiss Water Process which doesn't use any nasty chemicals. There are good bean and grounds brands that use this process and a couple of instants too. Hope that helps :)
