Just got back from my first gynaecologist appointment and walked away smiling …after being listened to ,appointments are now being mad to finally have a mri and laparoscopy and been put on hormone treatment…. goserelin injection and Tibolne! Has any one else had this medication if so any comments about it what I can expect?
To be honest I’m quite over whelmed about my appointment today as I really wasn’t expecting them to do anything as such and was expecting them to ‘fob’ me off x

Hi, so glad to hear you've been listened to! I was put on Goserelin (Zoladex) injections for 3 months pre-surgery. I was also given Tibolone, but didn't take it as wasn't sure about taking HRT, I wish I had!
So, plus sides: the Goserelin stopped by periods (after 1 withdrawal bleed) and I had no endo symptoms at all! It managed to shrink the endo in my fallopian tubes significantly, meaning that they didn't need to be removed (they'd been planning to remove both).
Down sides, (we're all different so you may not experience this at all), I have had awful almost constant hot flushes (they feel like mini panic attacks when your body is flooded with heat) and also constant night sweats meaning I didn't really sleep for the duration of being on the medication.
By the time I realised the side effects weren't going away I was only 6 weeks off my op and the Drs said that it would take 4 weeks for the Tibolone to take effect, hence why I didn't end up using it (wish I had!).
So, my advice, if possible, take the Tibolone and hopefully you'll avoid the symptoms!
I'm now post-surgery and have now found out it takes 3 months for the Goserelin to leave your body, so again, something to consider. The symptoms are now less.
Thanks for your reply hun… I’m still waiting to start my medication…chemist didn’t have it all in! I’ve done a little research and seen posts on this support groups and think I’m going give it a go! I’ll try anything to be honest I’ve had enough! All started when I was 14 I’m 38 now and had enough of pain tbh x
Sorry for slow reply! I am now 8 weeks post surgery. The menopause symptoms have just stopped and I've just had my first period since starting Zoladex in December. The return of my period has brought the return of endo symptoms, I would say they've gone from debilitating to just severe, with painkillers actually being able to take the edge off and allowing me to carry on with day to day life. How are you doing so far? xx
I was on this many years ago, before they used the 'add-back' with goserelin. I found it better that the previous drugs they tried. It puts you into a 'medical menopause', in my case that was mainly loads of hot flushes so I used to carry my menopause pack around (ie cucumber face spritz, cooling wipes, tissues and a change of pants/panty pads if I was going to be out long enough to leave damp patches on seats!). I also bought a cooling gel mattress and pillow pads for my bed although a hotwater bottle filled with icy water would do.
Hot flushes are nothing like a feeling of heat - much more - so if you get them check out one of the menopause sites.
