Hi everyone, I recently ( one week ago) had laparoscopy that removed a cyst and treated some areas of endometriosis and also they inserted the Mirena Coil. I'm recovering very well and feel great apart from a pain high in my vagina, what feels like my cervix. Has anyone else had this pain after getting the coil fitted and how long did it last? Thank you so much!

Pain after Coil
Hi ‘Em,
my first Mirena was fitted the same way in 2018 and I felt terrible for around 3 months. It never really helped me, so I am on other hormones as well. It usually takes time to get used to it, to me it happened after they refitted it during my second surgery in 2019. Took me almost a year. There are probiotics specifically for women out there that can help with some of the symptoms and a strong pain killer like Naproxen. All the best x
Hi em0000,
Yes i have pain there. I currently have my 3rd coil in situ and it was like yours introduce under sedation . Each Mirena I’ve had Has been a different experience but definitely with this one I get (not constantly) a sharp scratching /sharp pain in my cervix and I had this inserted in 2019 . I am now considering if I should remove it completely or have it replaced as I usually have it changed every 3 years due to the effects of the hormones wearing off and my symptoms returning but as I usually have this done under sedation and I’m not under clinic at the moment and my first insertion wasn’t under sedation was horrendous I’m scared 😟 . The reason I am thinking of removing it is partly because I never wanted ( was pressured into it by gynea and Gp) and partly because I haven’t had a period since November and my dr keeps saying “but you have the medina” well I was having regular periods before and I’m concerned and want to no what’s going on. I would say to you though my period are nothing compared to pre merina and I was told it can take 6 months for it to settle so maybe see what happens but definitely tell your Gp and gynea what your experiencing The hey might be more helpful than mine x
