Pain after eating?

I have started getting severe cramps in my lower abdomen every time I eat. The cramps are not “normal cramps” they are so sore. It is in both my left and right side but mostly my left even though all the other pain I get is the right(from period etc). I was just wondering if this is a common symptom?😞

Hi sky342,

Sadly this is a known symptom to have and I sadly have this symptom too. It is not a nice feeling at all 😞.

For me I can’t eat full dinners like I used to as I get bloated too quickly and get pain afterwards.

I still eat but just have more small lighter meals and snacks so that I don’t bloat and feel pain as much and I am not missing out on food. Also I’ve been writing down what foods trigger it as I find for me certain foods can trigger it.

It might be worth keeping a food diary to see if there are certain foods that make the problem worse or whether it happens after any food.

This is actually one of my worst symptoms which led to me being fobbed off with the IBS rubbish diagnosis for about 20 years. I can only eat very small amounts ever and I was able to sort out what foods upset me by trying the low fodmap diet. This has helped and my endometriosis specialist is supportive of it. I still do get digestive problems but not as often at all. I was diagnosed with extensive endometriosis including bowel.

Look at Kate Scarlata as a starting point. She has lists of high and low fodmap stuff. You only need to do it for 2-3weeks then you can reintroduce food groups one at a time and test your tolerance. Good luck xx
