Endo back pain?

I have severe back back in my side and lower back, sometimes I have no cramps at all but just back pain and slight pain in the left pelvis Does anyone suffer with this and also does anyone know why it's a symptom of endo?

Sorry for all the questions it's the only place that others can relate to!

I get terrible lower back pain, particularly around my time of the month and this really eased when I had a laparoscopy to remove my endo. They found it in the pouch of Douglas which is near your back and I believe this can be what causes the pain.

My lap was five years ago and my pain has massively come back so I'll be heading back to the docs again to see if I can have another one.

Have you had yours checked out?

Hiya! Yes I'm due to have a laparoscopy soon!

So fingers crossed they can tell me what's going on!

Hope yours is ok xx

I too suffer with terrible back pain and sciatica type pain down my right leg during my periods and for up two weeks after my period. I suffer from stage 4 endo and have endo in my pouch of Douglas too but haven't had any of my endo removed. I just keep popping painkillers to get me through it.

That's exactly the same! It's painful on the side of my leg back and bum also. I'm assuming it's something to do with where endo could b situated!

Are you having a lap at all? X

My situation is a lot more complicated. 3 weeks ago I had endo removed from inside my bladder! Following this operation, my kidney function went down to 30% and now the Drs think there is an obstruction near my kidneys which they think is being caused by endo. On Monday, I had a nephrostomy to get my kidneys to function normally and the next step is to do a lap to identify where the obstruction is, what's causing it, remove it and then insert a stent. So the endo in my pouch of Douglas is at the bottom of the list until they sort my kidneys out.

Gosh. That does sound extensive.

How do you cope with the pain.

I really hope you feel better soon and the lap helps the situation xx

Thank you. I just take strong painkillers, a hot water bottle and my electric blanket helps.

Hi, I have exactly the same, severe back pain and its because I now have severe endo in pouch of douglas and in my bowel. I may need to have a resection of bowel as it has invaded quite a lot of that area. it makes going to the loo very painful.

It's so frustrating! I'm not sure where mine is yet, I'm due my lap soon.

It feels like it's down my side, back and leg. Shooting pains almost!

Have you got to have extensive surgery? Sorry your having such a hard time with yours. Xx

Hiya, yes for me I now need a hysterectomy and bowel op but gynae and bowel surgeon need to work at same time and they only do this once a month on nhs which means it will be over a yr on waiting list. I get by with painkillers, deep heat pads on lower back and hot water bottle on too of that.. It is like sciatic pain, and also painful to go to the loo. Over the yrs ( had it for 26 yrs) it has worsened even tho i had 8 laser laps but they do help some of the ladies so chin upxx

That is where I get all my pain, and Cazo is right it is a symptom often related to having endo on the pouch of douglass.

I had this excised 12 months ago and I still experience this pain all the time not just at the time of the month.

No pain medication gets rid of this for me so. And as it feels more like a twinge I seem to get relief from stretching it out. And heat packs work

Good luck xx

Thankyou! I'm off to get some heat pads today as my water bottle gets to cold quickly!

Yes my feel like cramps in the leg back and bum!!

Thankyou! I'm hoping the lap can help the pain ease xx

I can totally empathise with you!I had horrible back pain for about a year before they operated to remove stage 4 endo and unstick everything. That was 2.5 yrs ago and just recently the pain has come back..it's agony..I feel it's worse than before..all in my hips, bum and down my legs...I have fibromyalgia too so I thought it might have been that but it's a different type of pain..my gynaecologist doesn't want to operate on me anymore so I need to find another one...wish I was rich so I could afford to go private xx

I'm sorry to hear that! It's so expensive to pay for surgery and IVF privatley! if we don't go on the NHS service here!

Even then the waiting list is as long as my arm!

So I can sympathise with you there! I hope you get this sorted! Xx

I too have severe back pain... it's actually what prompted me to get checked out because after going to the physio umpteen times and being told my back is fine I realised it always seemed to occur around about the time of my pelvic pain. Anyway.. I'm still awaiting a diagnosis so I can't be sure I even have endo but I believe it's caused where the endometrial deposits (is that what they're called?!!) are pushing against your nerves.

Hope you get some answers soon doll - good luck ♡ x

Hiya. Thanks so much for your reply. are you due to have a laparoscopy at all? I'm in the same situation as you, I've been told that they are sure it could be endo but again don't know until the lap!

I will let you know how I get on with the operation! Thankyou again ❤️ Xx

Good luck sweetie - I had my lap 2 weeks ago on Wednesday but I never got told anything afterwards and have to wait until my official post op appointment which I find disheartening. Thankfully I'm seeing my GP tomorrow so I'll see then if he has heard anything. Are you scheduled to have a lap soon??? X

Let me know how you get on with the results! How did you find the procedure?

Yes I'm due to have mine mid December my gyna said, so just waiting for the official letter! Very very nervous! Xx

Oh gosh.. you'll be fine, I promise. You're in and out so quickly it's insane. The procedure itself it's over and done with so quickly.. you'll be sore but keep on top of the painkillers. Gas pains can be a pain but I kept moving and luckily only had them in my back.. so didn't experience the intense shoulder pain so many experience. Umm I'd advise getting some lactulose post op too.. going to the toilet can be.. uhh.. A little slow! (And it's no fun!!) It's been just less than 2 weeks since my op and I feel relatively ok. Ocassionally a little sore if I overdo it no longer having to take the max daily dose of cocodamol ☺☺ x

Thankyou for the advice!

I guess it's probably me never having surgery before and working myself up!!!

I think i will voice my concerns to the docs before hand and hope they can help me relax!

Are you back to work? How much time do you need off after? Xx

Yes me too.

I have a burning dull pain in lower back 5cm right of where my bum crease ends and lower back hurts and seizes up. This happens around the time I am ovulating and meant to have my cycle. I do not have a cycle due to being on gnrh analogue.

I was thinking it's due to having a endo cyst on right ovary but have also been thinking maybe I have something going on in pouch of Douglas. I have had a MRI but nothing is showing up in pouch. But not sure edesions from endo always show up on mri's from what I have read.

All the best to you x

Thankyou for the post. That's the exact same place I get my pain and like you am beginning to think it could be something to do with Douglas pouch.

Hopefully the lap procedure will finally tell me what's going on! Xx
