I’ve recently had total hysterectomy and oophorectomy with extensive excision of endo. I’ve started HRT (oestrogen gel & progesterone tablets) but I’m experiencing pain in my lower back and legs like I used to get with endo, has anybody else experienced this, and if so how did you manage it? The oestrogen gel is only low dose to start and it’s clear I need it because I’m getting hot flushes, so it’s not enough to stop all symptoms.
I’m really worried about this, as I was hoping this would be the answer to my excessive bleeding and pain and hoped HRT would prevent the menopause symptoms and side effects that come with that.
Thanks,

I’ve just had a referral to menopause team via bgse. It’s worth seeing if you can have the same as they understand endo and how the oestrogen can reactivate the endo. I’m waiting for the new meds but couldn’t get the gel for now so have to try the patch instead. I’d ask your endo consultant.
Thanks, I’m already attending menopause clinic prior to surgery. I’m taking a really slow approach and tweaking doses and meds and it’s helping a bit I’m hoping it’ll continue to improve. Thanks 😊
