2nd op/Prostap/Provera - which to choose ..?

Hello everyone,

I am hoping for a bit of help/advice on behalf of my 19-year old daughter, who, after having a laperascopy a year ago to drain her ovarian cysts, has been told they are filling up again. She has been given the option of progesterone treatment (provera), Prostap for 1 year, or surgery to remove all the endometrial tissue, together with a myrena coil and Prostap. She took a while to get over the previous - relatively minor operation, and is dreading an even bigger one. We nonetheless think is probably the best choice, but it would be really good to be sure.

So we wanted to know - has anyone here got experience of prolonged prostap usage - particularly at a relatively young age. I heard there was risk of bone weakening - is that true? Any other plusses/minusses?

And similarly what experiences have you had after this sort of operation? How long were you out of action, and did the symptoms stay away?

Thank you all in advance for any info and advice you can offer.

Prostap isn’t licensed for use in under 23’s and even for those over 23 only for 6 months in a lifetime so please don’t let her choose that option. It’s because long term affects aren’t known. It can damage bones that are still growing and no one knows the effect on fertility. Search for Lindle on this group and read her posts as she knows so much about endo and can better advise for someone so young.
