Does ultrasound actually show anything other than if you are pregnant? I have quite advanced endometriosis and all I've had are ultrasound and the one lap that diagnosed me in 2018. I'm in pain and bloated and fed up with the constant BS from Irish medical professionals, after paying €200 euros for a 10mins consultation in Dec to be fobbed off with the option of the coil or the mini pill he said he'd refer me for a scan and I've just found out its another ultrasound. I'm so tempted to cancel it and not go as I literally have no faith left in Irish healthcare system.

Question about ultrasound and anyone else suffering the Irish healthcare system
The ultrasound can diagnose some types of endo but it depends on the skill and experience of the radiographer. If they are mostly doing pregnancy scans then it is more likely they will only be able to say if you have a ‘bulky ‘uterus (could be adenomyosis) or if you have any cysts on your ovaries. Sorry you are not getting much help from the medical profession. In the UK if you have severe endo ( which you might have from what you say about your earlier lap) you are entitled to be seen in a specialist centre for endo though waiting lists can be long. Is there anything similar in Ireland? Were you not given any treatment after you were diagnosed in 2018?
Tbh that is not a very good response from your private consultation, probably your GP could have told you the same. Excuse my ignorance of the Irish health care system, I can’t really give any advice about that.
Oh ok did not know that about ultrasound and thank you for your reply. Since my diagnosis in 2018 I've been fobbed off with decapeptyl injections twice and the mini pill. Only last year Ireland opened its first endometriosis clinic in Dublin and a waiting list longer than you'd like. It means for me on the west of Ireland its a long way to go for a consultation or treatment. Ireland is so backward when it comes to women's health
