Endo/coil

Hi everyone, don't know wether I'm coming or going. Had laparoscopy in October & had endo removed along with a merina coil inserted. Not felt right since. My body aches, I had a normal period November but this month its never fully arrived I just seem to be bleeding a little but the cramps are something else like contraction pains as well as bloating. These are issues I had before I had endo removed, so confused to wether its the coil or endo and op hasn't done anything.

Hi. Sorry your feeling rubbish at the mo. I had trouble with mega pain when I had my coil in. I lasted a month before I gave in and had it removed. I bleed for nearly 12 days and the pain was horrendous. Ive now been put on the mini pill to help ease the pains i get from my 'normal' endo

Thanks for the reply hope your now feeling a bit better now you've had it removed. Wish I never had it put in I know they say it takes a few months to settle but the pains are awful and my follow up appointment isn't until March. Should have been early December but it got cancelled. Just wish I new if it was down to the coil or its something else x

You know your body better than anyone else so if you want it out get it taken out. They tried to get me to keep it in but i told them the pain was worse than the actual endo

Sorry to hear you’re suffering. I too had problems with the coil. It just made my periods lighter but longer and I had sickness and back pain most of the time. I persevered for a year then had it removed. You can just book a go appointment to get it removed if you can’t stand it. You know your body but do try and chat to your consultant or their secretary to identify an alternative treatment. Good luck!

Hi there, I had the same coil fitted, I was in imense pain and had very heavy bleeding for weeks, the dr said it would all ease in time. Everytime I had intercourse it felt uncomfortable and my partner said he could feel something. About 10 months later I had a scan for different reasons only to find it had moved and was not sitting where it should be (I was still having bleeds every month) I then had it removed and another fitted and had no issues after no pain, no bleeding. It's been out over a year now and my endo is much worse but in relation to pain..but I'm ttc. Maybe ask for a scan and say your concerned it's misplaced.

Sorry to hear you’re struggling and your follow up appointment has been postponed so long!

I am in a similar boat, had a laparoscopy in October, endo removed and coil fitted. It’s been a bit rough! Just as I was starting to feel better from the surgery, I had a five week long period / bleeding and strong cramping episode that felt like it would never end. But now that’s finished I’m experiencing intermittent light bleeding and cramping and my consultant said that because the coil side effects have eased now it should continue to improve over the next few months. She advised me to try for another six weeks before thinking about having it removed, which I’m glad about because I am noticing improvements each week and really hoping it stops my periods all together.

Before I could speak to the consultant I also popped into a sexual health clinic to talk through all the side effects I was feeling from the coil with a nurse, which was so helpful and reassuring. Perhaps that could help as your appt has been delayed so long?

Really hope things start to settle for you 💐

Hi yes I have had surgery and can say you will feel like this for at least 5-6months. Your body has gone through surgery and trying to adjust back to normality. give it some time to heal. I know key hole in our eyes is small but you have to remember the extent of these small incisions being cut in your body where the objects were inserted to remove the endo. I had pain similar to you, but after 6 months I was starting to feel less pain till no pain. you may now and get twitches but remember your body and organs getting back to recovery.

it took me 5months before I could start wearing trousers or jeans as my belly button was the one that needed healing more from the incisions.

I am yet to have a coil in booked in for Feb, as that was the earliest app in two minds for that.

Keep up with exercises such as small walks this will heal with the recovery, lots of green or peppermint tea for the bloating to release the gas pumped into you, and lastly pain relief when you need it. Water bottle is a life saver too. x
