Tramadol - how often do you take it?

I've been taking tramadol for the past couple of years, but very I infrequently, not even once a week really. Lately though my endometriosis pain is worse, and also sciatica. I asked my GP how often I can safely take it, and she pretty much said however often I want. Daily if needed 😕 I'm worried about getting addicted if I take daily, so I'm thinking if I take 3 days a week at least that's 3 days with less pain. Anybody have experience with taking Tramadol on a now and then basis?

From my experience of gps and painkillers they know nothing, I’ve just gone through a brutal codeine withdrawal, so go with your gut xx

Just be careful, they prescribe but are no help when you need to get off xx

Hi, sorry to here your pain has gotten worse recently! I was taking Tramadol modified release, 100 mg twice a day for around 6 months prior to my lap and a little afterwards. I weened myself off them once I felt the benefit of my surgery and seemed to cope well with any withdrawal symptoms but I would be cautious in doing this slowly! I went down each week to 150,100 and then 50 eventually with advice from my GP. Do what you feel is right tho, if you need pain relief then I think it’s best to take it but that’s my own opinion! Hope you feel better soon x

Have you found them less effective now that you've been on them for a while, and do you feel dependant?

Yes I find them less effective and I don't feel dependant on them, but if I swap from tramadol to zapain every so often they start to work again xx
