I was recently diagnosed via lap in Oct (Stage 2). I can't handle Progesterone-only or the combined pill because I have had migraines with both, so bizarrely; my consultant has prescribed Visanne (another progesterone?!) as a last option as I won't get the coil. She told me that the NHS won't give it to me unless I've tried every remaining progesterone pill (why?!) but has told me that her other patients with lack of tolerance to hormone-based treatments have done well on it. Gave me a private prescription and told me to look it up online; she reckoned you could buy it for a tenner/made it sound very easy to buy online.
Cut to now..where the HELL do I buy it? One site charges £45 p&p and at the checkout have asked for payment by wire transfer/bitcoin! WTF! I'm stunned at the lengths we have to go to (and have since seen all the articles about how hard it is to get, but go easy on me; I'm freshly diagnosed and still trying to get my head around having this illness).
Can someone please help to direct me on where to buy it? I'm finding it really upsetting and I'm a bit desperate to be honest :(.
Thanks so much,

This is bizarre. A private prescription just means you have to pay the cost of the medicine, rather than a set NHS prescription cost. If you are expected to buy it online, why would you need a prescription? It sound as if that is a US site you were on.Also if it’s available on the NHS under certain circumstances ie where nothing else is suitable, why can’t she just prescribe it if she is satisfied those conditions are met?
Try asking your local pharmacist for information about whether they stock it/ can get it. If it can be obtained on the NHS then it should be available from them, and you do have a prescription. If not your GP might be able to advise you?
There might be people on here who take Visanne who know more than me.
