I am currently 10 days post laparoscopy and still have very sore wounds and feeling tired and breathless. I know it’s still such early days but I’m so panicky about the breathlessness and it’s making it worse 😂.
Does anyone have any similair experiences and when the pain/exhaustion left them? I just want to feel normal again!!

Hi - I don't have any experience with when exhaustion or general endo pain left, since surgery didn't actually help my symptoms at all. But in terms of sore wounds after surgery, I would say it took at least a few weeks. 10 days is not much time. You don't say what they did in surgery or how severe the endo was that was removed, but those will factor into your recovery - the more complicated the surgery or the longer the surgery, the longer your recovery time will be.
As for the exhaustion, you may be trying to do too much post-surgery. Pretty much every movement involves your core, and your core just had major surgery. Be gentle with yourself and give yourself time to heal. And if your breathlessness is truly worrying you, talk to your GP or phone NHS24 and ask - there's no harm in double-checking, and the reassurance will likely help curb any panic that might make it worse.
I hope you feel better soon! Just remember it's about 4-6 weeks before you can resume more normal activities, even things like lifting anything remotely heavy. Strenuous activity like exercising normally is more like 3 months, which is why they schedule follow-ups that far in the future. In the meantime, be gentle with yourself and your body, and reach out to healthcare professionals if something is really worrying you 🙂
I need to keep reminding myself that it’s ok to take it easy and relax. You’re right in saying that it will just take its time as it really hasn’t been long at all.
Hi, I had my Laparoscopy 9 days ago and I’m feeling breathless when I do any sort of activity, even going to the toilet! It’s making me feel panicky too.
My wounds are still sore, but feeling a bit better each day.
It’s still early days though and things are still healing x
I'm so happy you said that! I think we just need to realise that it's ok and it will take time.
My surgeon said that the breathlessness is fine and that it takes our lungs a while to heal after being intubated (obviously I don't know your situation so if it's really bad then speak to a doc!). But it makes me so panicky even if I know that it's ok. xx
