Hi, im still waiting for a diagnosis but im wondering if anyone has developed sciatic as part of endo? Over the last year or so where my endo symptoms have got worse ive developed sciatic (diagnosed by ed department). Its got to the point most days i have to use a walking stick and on bad days i cant use my right leg and i collapse, ive had two MRI's which have showed nothing. Still waiting on lap.

Hi Coco136. Yes I have suffered a lot with sciatica pain especially down my right leg. The main thing that helped me was specialist pelvic physio, muscles get so tight and knotted due to on going pain from endo and adenomyosis and this was then irritating nerves. Surgery also helped but definitely the physio made the biggest difference. I would walk in to a session with a limp and lots of pain (my leg would also buckle beneath me like you describe) and be able to walk out in a totally different state. If you can’t get to a physio there’s is a book by Amy Stein called heal pelvic pain that has good exercises in it. Worth remembering that endo does not show up on MRI unless it is thick or nodule (my specialist told me under 5mm it won’t be seen). My MRI was clear for endometriosis but when I had surgery it was discovered in several places. MRI did show adenomyosis though and it does give me pain down legs but generally I find this in both legs and it is a heavy dragging pain, very different to the sharp radiating pain of sciatica. Hope this helps. Take care! Xx

Hi Arty, Thank you so much. Its so nice to hear someone with the exact same thing, doctors did general leg and back physio with me but i will look at pelvic. Thank you so much xx

Definitely worth doing, I went to general physio as well but couldn't help identifying any problems. Pelvic health physio also does internal work to get to deep pelvic muscles, can be uncomfortable but for me personally has been the biggest help. Good luck x

I’ve had sciatica for many many years on and off. Worst time was 2009/10 where I couldn’t stand or walk without extreme pain for 10.5 months. Mine then went away after having an mri for something else. It does come and go now but nothing like the experience I had before. I also had endo. Mine was all left side, endo and sciatica but I’ve no idea if connected. I also have had amytriptoline for nerve pain which did help, I also have had diclofenic which again I found helped. I’ve also tried sleeping in a different bed to see if that makes a difference.
