I have had ongoing pain in the back of my left thigh when sitting for long periods for a few years now and didn't get much of a diagnosis. They haven't checked anything other than general blood tests and I was referred to a physio who said its probably a sensitised sciatic nerve. The pain is getting worse and gets triggered after sitting for shorter periods now which is really frustrating as a student who has to spend a lot of time sitting.
I came across some research about endometriosis and leg pain with some articles about sciatic endometriosis and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this or a diagnosis? I'm not sure how to go about finding out more and how to actually get a diagnosis. I have already had endometriosis diagnosed via laparoscopy a couple years ago but nothing regarding my leg.
Any info or help would be really appreciated as I'm getting quite desperate!!

Hi there, I was diagnosed with this earlier in the year. I had pain in my glute, pelvis and hip area for several years. The nerve pain would go down my leg and it seemed to get worse with my cycle. I believe it is quite hard to get diagnosed. It took me nearly five years but I was not familiar with sciatic endometriosis and had not even been diagnosed with endometriosis. After quite a few MRIs a mass showed up on the nerve and a CT guided biopsy confirmed it was endometriosis. I was lucky enough to have surgery earlier this year to remove the mass and I had Stage 4 endometriosis in other area which was all excised. It is a complex surgery and to my knowledge there is only one surgeon in the UK who is trained in this type of surgery Neuropelveology which was pioneered by Possover. I suspect my surgeon is the same person as mentioned in the message from roshsp2012 as it is a very specialised area. But you can get sciatic pain for many reasons and not necessarily from sciatic endometriosis other nerves in the pelvis may be involved or of course endometriosis may not be the cause at all.
I Suggest trying to do a pain diary to see if there any patterns, is it constant or get worse at certain times. This is what I did also a MRI scan on your back and pelvis would be the advisable, get referred to a specialist endometriosis centre and they should be able to help, happy to share my specialists details if you message me.
If you could pass on any information about who your surgeon was, I would really appreciate it. I'm trying to find someone for Sciatic Endo surgery now. Private message if you're more comfy.
