I had severe back and abdo pain with pv clots as id stopped taking the combined pill 4 days earlier. I was taken to A and E. ultrasound was normal no indication of a ruptured cyst but the gynae reg asked general surgeons to review me. They requested an overnight CT scan which showed significant faecal impaction. I was discharged home in the morning with senna/movicol.
Why is my bowel impacted if I opened my bowels the night before. I’ve had a stone in weight loss, constantly feel like I need to open my bowels but can’t and therefore started using glycerine suppository out of desperation as the GP said I had IBS and wouldn’t refer me to gastroenterology . The Dr told me the scan results at 5am after they woke me up at quarter to 2 in the morning to do the CT abdo and pelvis. I just feel so washed out. Has anyone else had this problem? If I can’t open my bowels without suppositories then shouldn’t that be investigated? I drink so much water, have plenty of fibre and take triphala husk capsules.
I had read so many entries on this forum but very little in regard to bowel issues similar to mine. I feel really low at the moment with it all.

It is possible to have some impaction whilst still having some coming out. Think of it like having a faulty set of traffic lights that is only letting one car through at a time. People at the other end of town see cars coming through and aren't keeping count so don't realise that traffic is backed up and getting worse further around.
I'm not sure an ultrasound would show a ruptured cyst, they certainly don't show many existing cysts or other endo growth. I had problems with constipation for 3 years that I was told was IBS and couldn't possibly be gynae related before I was eventually diagnosed with stage 4 endo. So, yes it very much needs investigating. I had to pay privately to see an endo specialist as I'd given up with my GP by that point. They sent me for an MRI on the NHS, and that showed up the endo.
What you are describing sounds very much like what I had, so you are not alone here.
Thank you so much for your response, I’m absolutely sick of this constant feeling of needing to open my bowels and being told I have IBS with endometriosis it’s making me so unwell with fatigue and weight loss because I feel so uncomfortable that I just don’t want to eat.
I didn’t see anyone the following morning from the surgical team the nurse just said I could go home. I really feel like a need a scope but I have phoned the GP so many times and they do absolutely nothing apart from throw more drugs at it. I just dont know what to do anymore I’m really worried I’m going to lose my job in the NHS as well because in the last 2 years I’ve had about 7 months off and financially I’m not sure what to do. Just feel like I don’t know where to turn as I’ve tried so many things to enhance my day to day life so I can be well enough to work.
What was the outcome for yourself if you don’t mind me asking?
