Hi girls, I was diagnosed with severe endo in feb 2015 and had a lap and endo removal etc. I've always had problems with my bowels aspecially severe constipation during my periods. Ive started getting sharp pains in my tummy when I try and open my bowel now during my period and wondered if anyone with endo is having same problem.?
Constipation with period: Hi girls, I was... - Endometriosis UK
Constipation with period
Hi.
Sorry to hear that you are in pain. I have very recently had a laparoscopy and got diagnosed with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. I thought they would find it on the bowel as I get a lot of bowel pain and feel like I need to go but I can't, but they didn't find any on my bowel, I had some removed from pouch of Douglas Which I Believe if near the bowel. I am now being send to have a colonoscopy to look at my bowel. I think it is common to feel bowel pain if you have any endometriosis attached to the bowel I have quite a few posts with people saying it's attached to there bowel.
Hope this helps
Jo x
I have probs with pooing all the time, tmi, but I find it very hard to strain, and use mucscle to pass it, but when I do it's not a hard stole, it normal but slimmer
It's not a nice thing to discribe but I was also wondering if it was down to ENdo and or adeno, or tabs.
I've had a lap 4 weeks ago, but I've been like it for months
Xx
No I completely get what
You are saying that is how I how it is for me I feel like something pushing on the bowel or something in the bowel that doesn't go away even when I have been to. That's why Gp said that she wants me to have colonoscopy just to make sure that isn't actually a problem with the bowel. It drives me mad because I get the dragging pain down my leg really bad when my bowel starts hurting. I have had this pain for ages in fact I think it started years ago and has slowly got worse. It really hard to tell what is going as it's all in the pelvic area x
I hope all goes well with your col. And leg pain. My lower back pain like twinges I've had for a few years but I've just ignored it until now I realise it could be endo and not ibs. Keep bothering that doctor good luck hun xx
Hi, I can completely relate to your bowel pain. Have you tried changing your diet at all? Personally I've found small changes such as making my own green juice/smoothie each morning significantly helps with bowel movements and pain.
Hope you get some relief soon x
I'm so glad I'm not alone... (Not an easy subject ;-D ) i do get lower back ache on my right side a day before I have the erge to try and go etc. and always have to empty all 2/3 times in one day. I also have hip pain now and then which I guess maybe a trapped nerve not sure. I also had a nodule on my bowel removed from my attached uterus in feb 15, I guess this is why things maybe worse. I think I may ask if I could have a colonoscopy too.. Would set mind at rest. Thanks for your advice girls. I hope all gets a little better with u all. I'm off to get that juicer or liquidiser :-). Xxx
No you are really not it sounds like the endometriosis affects the bowel even of it isn't on the bowel. I have pain in my hip area too and I think it's something pressing on nerves as it shoots down my leg. Oh poor you sound like you have been though a lot hun. I was just about to say about juicing I have been of late making lots of green juice. I find by adding these things sometimes help sunflower seeds and chia seeds and I put wheatgrass powder and chorella and spiritulina In there as they anti inflammatory and have high level of chlorophyll which Is meant to be really good for your immune system. Hope this helps the juicing helps when I'm having a really bad day xx
Thanku,
I will definetly try this. And I have a follow up after op in few weeks. Will ask about col.then.
Yes definitely try it. Yes I'm sure they will send you for one. Did you have any endo on your bowel or do not know?x
I used to suffer from it for ages, until I discovered l-glutamine, the amino acid that heals the gut. I'm now regular after years and years. It is said that the lack of progesterone causes constipation, as the cause of the disease itself.
I had the same issues. Got so bad I'd pass out trying to go to number 2 when on period. I literally had pain at level 10 when I needed to go, during going and after for a while. When I had the lap - no endo on bowel either!
So anyway, the way I dealt with it was to take extra movicol. The moment I knew my period had started I'd take 3 movicol spread over 90 minutes (one every half hour). This would make the motion soft enough (or even slightly diarrhearish) that meant I could actually go a little easier.
Since I've had the lap this pain has pretty much gone! So some patch/es of endo must have been causing it (near bowel and PoD maybe?!).
