I suffer with endo and had a lap back in 2017, for the past 12 months I've been suffering pain during and after my period...up to 2 weeks pain. The exhaustion is back as well as the weekly migraines which have me laid up in bed. I have to take iron tablets 3x day due to the amount of blood loss during my 9 day long periods that causes me to be anemic. I've tried trans acid but it hasn't helped.
I've told the doctor and they did sti checks and a ultrasound and found nothing. The gp has now said they want me to swap my copper coil for the mirena and until I do that they won't look into my endo or other symptoms. I've been on the copper coil since 2017 and really don't want to put more hormones in my body like the pill and depo due to the awful moods they caused.
Has anyone had a swap from copper to mirena or has the mirena coil that has helped with severe blood loss during period as well as tiredness etc?

They can't with hold care, or try and force you to try something you aren't comfortable with. If they are saying they won't do anything until you've tried something you don't want to, complain. They shouldn't use it to force you into something you aren't comfortable with.
That being said heavy bleeding could be worse with the copper coil as it is one of the known side effects. So the copper coil generally isn't suggested for those with endo due to this. But there isn't a one size fits all for treating/managing endo.
Thankyou Christin_aFunny thing was the gp who advised the copper coil said it would help with endo..it did help for a little bit but my periods just seem to be getting worse and my pain is starting to become unmanageable.
I am due to speak to a doctor next week so fingers crossed.
I had a mirena coil inserted about 5 years ago. The procedure itself wasn’t straightforward as my womb lies at an angle and it was uncomfortable at first. For a few months my periods were all over the place and I felt a little bloated but then it settled down and my period has pretty much stopped. It has been great as I had such heavy, unpredictable bleeding. My endo symptoms also reduced dramatically for a few years which again was such a relief.
I get Migraines too so feel your pain. Mine went away whilst on the Mirena and only came back about 6 months before the coil was due to expire, along with other endo symptoms. I know everyone’s bodies are different though and appreciate that you may respond differently. I was nervous of the Mirena at first but for me, I found it much better and to have less side effects than using the pill. The first few months were tricky and I nearly removed it although I was glad I stuck it out as it did give me my life back for a period.
Had Mirenas in 2007-2021 and they helped me with heavy periods and pain. Was getting a 3 day period and using just a panty liner, no pain on this and so much energy.
Hormones in the body are not ideal. But I was just so desperate and it gave me my life back for years!
Are heavy metals like copper ok in the body? Do you need to do a heavy metal detox?
