Hi , the first time I went back was after 3 months and even then I still wasn’t 100% so I ended up stopping and then waited another 3 months! I think it just depends on you and how your feeling. I would probably wait until your routine check up and then decide x

My consultant told me "no strenuous exercise until 6 weeks" if that helps?

I had mine in March and didn’t start back properly till about 4 weeks ago. Don’t rush it, maybe just go in and walk on the treadmill, you might feel fine, but internally you will still be healing. Xx

Hi, I was also interested in when it’s ok to exercise after my lap in April. I had about a month of hardly doing anything much and in pain, then another 4 weeks of just doing gentle things like short walks. My doctor recommended about 8 weeks before doing anything strenuous or much heavy lifting.

I found this lady on YouTube and she seems good and very knowledgeable

She is called “Intimate Rose”

Everyone will be different, but I think it’s easy to forget with a lap because there are not huge scars on the outside, that you will have had a lot of work done on the inside that needs time to heal. I also found another lady on YouTube called “Yoga with Joy” who has some gentle yoga videos for after abdominal surgery.

After my lap, my tummy was swollen for about 6 weeks and I couldn’t really bend over forward properly and was pretty limited. But you could talk to your doctor and ask their advice on exercise too, as they will know what your personal situation is. Whatever you do I guess just start gently while listening to your body. The post op pain went for me after about 7 weeks and after that I started doing more slowly.

Hope that helps. 😀

My gynae told me not hard exercise until after 6 months or so. Still that depends on your feel inside. Personally, I resorted to taichi and spot-walking or park walking as my body would allow. Great that you feel strong enough for such. Yet, I would say go-slow for long term sake. Never know how the stitches inside are healing. Patience now and thereafter you will have your full life back again. Now happily golfing any day without having to check dates. ☺
