Hey everyone! I’ve been on the Mirena Coil for a long time now and it was the best thing that I ever did. Only issue is it’s now expired... and all my pain and bleeding is coming back and getting worse and worse and I just feel so depressed because before the coil I would be bed bound due to the chronic pain and I can’t bear it going back to that. Due to Covid I can’t get it replaced where I live. I’ve been in contact with my doctor numerous times, been referred to hospital gynaecologist but the NHS will not replace it at the moment with the current pandemic even though I’m on it for health reasons. I’ve also enquired about going private but I’ve gone back to university full time and just can’t simply afford it. I just don’t know what to do anymore and I’ve been waiting for months and I’m just getting worse physically and mentally. I don’t know what more I can do and just feel helpless. Has anyone else had any similar issues with not getting their treatment during the pandemic?

Mirena Coil Replacement Issues
Thats just ridiculous!!!
Poor you , I totally understand as i have my Mirena coil for the same reason . No coil , no life .
Ive had mine replaced twice in the pandemic due to it moving & almost piecing the womb wall & sitting far too low .
The NHS is functioning if not running behind as i work for the NHS.
Were abouts in England r u ?
I would chase the gynea referral yourself now thats done & explain your condition has deteriorated.
If that doesn’t work get a PALS rep google it to support a complaint to the NHS trust your under do all this ASAP hun
Xxx
Normally at least one GP at surgeries have the skill to do this. Unless of course there's a reason why you need it done at the hospital under general anaesthetic.
My friend had the opposite situation during the pandemic, she hated it so she called her surgery that she's going to pull it out herself that day. The GP did it on the same day.
Worth asking your uni GP surgery if anyone has the skill to do it? Going into a&E and threatening to take it out yourself might do the job. Ultimately I'd do/threaten whatever I have to get it done. Good luck. xx
I had contacted the sexual health clinic to have mine replaced as I was in the same situation as you. I was told I’d need a referral from the doctor as it was for my endo and not just contraception. Anyway I phoned the doctor and I’m actually getting it replaced today at the GP surgery. If I was still waiting I would have just kept phoning the sexual health clinic.
