Hi! Did anyone get any advice on when we can have a bath post lap? I live for my baths and the nurse just said I could shower the day after but I didn’t ask about baths! I am 11 days post op and my wounds look closed over now, any advice appreciated xxx

Hi KitKat, I wouldn’t bath yet. I’ve had 3 laparoscopies and I’ve always been advised to avoid getting the wounds too wet until they’re properly healed. I know this won’t be what you want to hear, but a quick shower is best, then just pat the wound dry (I used kitchen roll as it’s more absorbent). If you have a bath, you’ll risk your wound getting infected. Having said that, I guess you could have a bath where the water’s shallow and won’t reach your wound 🤷‍♀️ X

hi, i am yet to have my first lap on 29.6.21, so not sure but my shower is over my bath and not a walk in would that make a difference to when as having to climb in?

Hi! Mine is the same and I was able to climb in the day after my op for a shower (the nurse said I could shower when I got home) you might be sore so just take it easy, I had my partner to help me out, he washed my feet etc as I felt too sore to bend. If you don’t have anyone at home maybe get an anti slip bath mat just to be on the safe side! And leave the hard to reach places! Good luck for your op hope it all goes well! X

Ahh I hope you get the answers you need! It’s completely understandable to be nervous, but you will be in very safe hands and when you wake up you will hopefully know what’s been going on for you! Keep us updated on how it goes! X
