So I’m currently sat on the toilet crying in agony, I’ve been given naproxen cocodimal (not sure of the spelling sorry) and nothing touches the pain, heat pads baths hot water bottles doesn’t work. I’m willing to try anything

Oh you poor thing! I’ve been there; it’s horrible. I hope the pain has eased a bit. Naproxen can take time to work, and works best if you take regularly, from just before you expect the pain (if you’re able to predict it at all!).

It sounds like you’re doing all the right things. The next steps would be a more powerful narcotic painkiller, or looking at hormonal/surgical treatments with a gynaecologist, if you’re not already doing that.

I’m assuming you know it’s endometriosis and not anything else?! If the pain is severe and continuing, and you’re not sure what it is, you should call an ambulance.

I hope you have someone with you or can call someone. Hang on in there - it’s really tough I know but you will get through it x

Oh and one thing I do is I get two hot water bottles, as hot as I can stand, and put one against my lower back (often lying on top of it) and one against my belly. Sometimes having the hot water bottle against my lower back really helps, even though it doesn’t feel like the pain is coming from there. I will also move the bottles around and put them on my thighs too

Thank you so much. I’m due to see the gynaecologist on may 10th to hopefully book me in for surgery to give me a full diagnosis. I’ve had about 5 different opinions saying endo so I’m like 90% sure that’s what it is

Tried that, doctors said there’s nothing left they can do for me I just have to wait for my gynaecologist appointment may 10th and see where that takes me

Hey, do you mean mefenamic acid? If so, I think that’s prescription only. It’s a similar drug to Naproxen - a NSAID. I used it years ago with mixed results but some women swear by it

Are you on the pill? I was dying of pain b4 the op and went to out of hours clinic, they gave me the pill and as soon as I took it period pain gone and Endo pain stopped not 100% but enough to walk straight up. They gave me an oestrogen pill unfortunately and post op the gynaecologist said I need progesterone pill only, cerazette. X

Hi! This sounds very similar to me. No word of a lie, I think I’ve tried 5-8 different painkillers to try and help. My body can’t handle anti-inflammatories so it narrows the pool so to speak, but after being sent to the hospital yesterday because my gp was worried that my pain was covering up appendicitis (thankfully it wasn’t) I have now been given tramadol to try and help.

The best thing to do is see your gp and request something stronger. No one should be allowed to be in such pain whilst they wait. My new GPs know me quite well now because I have to keep going back as all I’m doing is waiting and can’t cope.

I hope everything gets better for you soon xx
