Is this a normal reaction....

I'm on my 3rd injection of Prostap. The first 2 went really well but i had a delayed reaction to the 3rd injection (day 5 a small, red lump lump appeared). I had my 4th injection yesterday and it was immediately uncomfortable. I woke up a cpuple of times through the night if i knocked it. Today its become more sore throughout the course of the day and and gotten bigger, redder and is not hot to touch. I'm just checking this is normal...

The photo's don't do it justice, its very red. they're taken 4 hours apart, its bigger than that now.

Hiya, yes the redness on the injection site is a known side effect. Silly question, have you been getting the injection on the same side?

I did the opposite side this time....

Ok, they recommend alternating sides. If it’s still worrying you, I suggest you get it checked out by calling 111. Xx

I spoke to the GP yesterday and they think it’s possibly an allergic reaction. I’m on double antihistamines and antibiotics. I’m told if it doesn’t get better, I get a fever, fell unwell or it carries on getting bigger to go to A&E! It’s a joke 😂 This could only happen to me.

Hi MishC,Did you do the injection yourself?

Only asking because I was on this for 10 months and when the nurse did it I got it in the top of my bum and often had a lump but when I had to do it myself, I had to do it in the stomach and the first time it was exactly like your photo, apparently I had the needle on the wrong angle so didn't go deep enough. 2nd one was better, but still felt it was worse than when it was out of my sight.

Good that you for it checked and hope you are feeling ok.

I did the first 3 myself (I wasn’t advised to seek help 🙄) but this last one the nurse did. I had a reaction from the 3rd one but it was delayed (day 5) and much smaller.
