I was hoping someone may be able to help. I've been prescribed prostap indefinitely. The doctor who prescribed it didn't tell me when to take it. I took my first injection 4 weeks ago today but i'm not sure when i'm suppose to take the 2nd injection. Is it every 4 weeks or is it monthly (as in the 1st of every month). I've tried to speak to my doctor at the hospital but the secretary's are making it very difficult and are not asking him. The are suggesting its a GP issue and i should speak to them. Ive not been able to get hold of my GP hence me turning to here.
Does anyone have any ideas when you're suppose to take your 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc injection?

Hi there 👋, I initially had mine every 4 weeks from our practice nurse but then my consultant said it was fine to move them out to every 5 weeks (I had been told I could have 6 injections max so wanted to ensure they would stretch to my op date). Hope that helps x
HiI had Zoladex which is similar, but they are only licensed for endometriosis for six months. You shouldn’t be on it for longer without them telling you about bone scans etc.
The consultant initiated the suggestion, but carried out at GP surgery by the nurse. It was every four weeks.
If you surgery is being difficult to get hold of there should be an online consult form on their website. Explain to the receptionist, there should be a letter from the consultant to GP.
Hi. I had 6 months without hrt, it was done every 5 th Thursday if I’m remembering correctly. It was done at the bsge centre as our gp wasn’t able to do it and the local hospital wasn’t an option. Hope you are feeling ok it, it was a game changer for me but doesn’t suit a lot of people. Xx
Hello, I was on Prostap for a while (18 months or so) and my initial injections were monthly. It wasn't an exact science so not exactly every 4 weeks just roughly monthly, depending on when the docs/hospital could fit me in. Your doctor is also able to prescribe 3 monthly injections which are very handy once you've been on them for a while. I say that as it's good to stick to the monthly injection first to see how your body reacts to the drug. Some people find it unbearable and others (like me) think it's the best thing since sliced bread! I get that the doctors are operating differently due to covid but I found it helpful to make the next appointment & put the prescription in when I was getting the jab. Good luck!
I'm going to be on prostap for years if my body can handle it and so far so good. I was told i would have bone density scans every other year but other than that there's no reason for me to stop. I will take me next injection tomorrow and will take them every 4 weeks for 6 months before moving over to the 3 month injections.
Every four weeks If you’re on it for a while then have some HRT alongside, I find the patches work so much better. As long as you have the HRT and bone density checks after a year then you’re fine to keep on it - I was worried about being on it longer than 6 months and my endo specialist gave me a very passionate explanation of why it’s fine 😅 X
Hi MishC I have these injections. I’m on my 5th on Monday. I have the injection every month at the out patient gynaecology dept in the hospital. I have appt given to attend some time after 4 weeks.
These injections do finally help with pain and periods. It reduces bleeding a lot and stop after few times.
I Have to take painkillers. Hot bottle. Rest a lot. Mentally exhausted me but these injections effect each one differently.
I am shocked when you had the injection they have not given you no guidelines ? Instructions or dates.
Chasing these these for our Appts is a nightmare at times. This is why public have to go to PALS for help eventually.
