What type of contraceptive is best with endometriosis?

I'm new here and need some advice. I've been advised by GP that I might have endometriosis after years of painful periods, following an unnecessary operation in October. They've prescribed me on Cerelle since November, and it hasn't done much different. I am on my period for a long period of time, and still have terrible pains, to the point I can't work. After speaking to my GP again they have advised for me to have a look at either having the Coil or Implant, I'm just not sure which is the best road to go down if it means trying to reduce some of the symptoms, and trying to get some normality.

Hi there! After being diagnosed with endo they also suggested that I went on contraception, I was initially on Ridevegon/Levest and it actually made things worse! A while after being on it I had an appointment with a specialist and they said that they find it doesn’t agree with a lot of women with endo so defiantly would urge you not to think about going on it! I’ve now been on the depro- injection since December and am doing better x

The Mirena coil was wonderful for me and it ended a lifetime of pain from endo - with no complications from the coil itself (although my gynae had it inserted under anasthetic as I'd never had children, and he thought insertion would be too painful). I was (semi?) lucky that - for most of my life - the pill stopped the endo: but every time I stopped, the endo was back with a vengeance. This became very silly, as my husband had the 'snip' once we knew we didn't want children, and yet I had to stay on the pill - or choose agony. I wish I'd been offered the coil then, as the progesterone is in a much smaller dose than with the pill, and is in situ thus is not circulating the entire body in heavy doses, as with the pill. Plus it's okay for about 5 years, so no other treatment.

They don't work for everyone, and some women have more pain, but for me it was wonderful.

The Merina IUD worked for my until recently. Had had 7 years symptom free. It is unpleasant to have fitted but totally worth it.

I was also on Cerelle, but still had pain and bleeding, plus migraines. Now on Desogestrel, which is so much better for me. I am almost symptom free and have no side effects.
