Folate level low?

Hi all,

So bloods came back as ‘normal’ with b12 934 and ferritin 48.

My folate is 4.5 and I’m tired all the time struggling to get through the day. Is this level of folate concerning at all in regards to fatigue?

Range is 3.8-9999 so quite a wide range?

HiDid GP have any explanation for you being tired?

If you do take extra, take a B complex as they work better together.

Did they test for Vit D? We tend to be really low with this, I was, dr didn’t want to test but humoured me. That can help with being tired.

This condition alone can make you tired.

What was your thyroid like?

Nope, haven’t had any explanation from the GP. Vit D was about 50 and nothing untoward with my thyroid either ?

Definitely need to ask why, etc. Folate to me is pretty near the base line. 50 I think is low for Vit D, the range on my results is 75-200, that was last year. Mine was low in 2019, I started supplementing. GP did phone and say to buy some, it was at 42, up to 69 last year. Vit D is connected to hormones.

With Thyroid it does depend on what tests.

I've had low B12, folate & Vit D in the past which I think is quite a common thing in people with Hashi's. I now take B & D vits and check my levels regularly with Medichecks or Blue Horizon. Having low folate can make you feel awful and it will definitely make you feel tired - as with low B12 & D. xx
