Hi guys.. i’m 24 years of age and over the last year i’ve been experiencing a lot of pelvic pain! My periods have always been terrible so i was put on the pill at the age of 16 which did help, however recently i’ve noticed that my periods are so painful in terms of cramping and shooting pains! I seem to be getting this weird dull ache (very similar to a UTI type ache) that comes on a few days before my period and constantly carries on after my period! I’ve had swabs etc and have no infections, my ultrasounds came back clear and i also saw my gyno who has suspected endo.. my sister has it so it does run in the family. I noticed that when i’ve skipped periods using the pill in the past i don’t seem to get the pain as much, but as soon as i have a period they just don’t go away! It radiates around my bladder area into my hips and lower back. Can i have advice please? waiting to be referred by the NHS for a lap..
Thanks so much x

Hiya, yes sounds like it could be. My main symptom is pelvic pain and it gets better on the pill and comes back again when I come off it. Have they done an internal vaginal ultrasound? That's where they found my endo cysts and little suspected endo pollups. I am now on waiting list for lap - but it's been a year. Gynae suggests 'getting pregnant' or remaining on the pill. As the pill makes my hair thin I am trying to come off it but then it's painkillers by the truckload so it's a difficult choice. I would keep investigating! But it can be a long wait. good luck x
Thanks so much for your reply! I was referred for a transvaginal and abdominal ultrasound sound which both came back clear, so i don’t have any cysts etc! the gyno said it’s quite hard to detect endo on a scan because some lesions are too tiny to be picked up the pain usually subsided a week after my period but this time round it seems to just be getting worse! it’s usually a dull ache but seems to be a sharp pain at the moment! do you find that you get a discharge often inbetween periods? sorry if that’s tmi.. but it’s one system i’ve had recently which i find odd.. i do have cervical erosion so that may be the cause of the discharge but i’m unsure currently. I had a pelvic examination and the pain seems worse today because of it x
Hi, yes that's the problem, they can't really see most of what's there until they do the lap! It's so hard. I do get some discharge but don't feel it's loads, it's again hard to measure as it's just what you are used to after years of being a woman! What is cervical erosion? I think it's a case of continuing to log symptoms, listen to your body and sometimes having to keep reminding the GP to chase things. x
