I seem to be posting constantly on here recently so sorry for another one! Does anyone else suffer with night sweats? It's not every night but 4 or 5 times over the last few weeks i've woken up sweaty and clammy to the point my pyjamas are clinging to me where they're damp. I'm having a flare up of pain at the moment but it doesnt always coincide wuth bad pain days. I am also suffering with acid reflux so it could be to do with that but its hard to tell because my acid reflux usually flares up when my endo does (i think its triggered by being stressed when i'm in pain). The only other thing i can think of is that i've been taking amitriptyline recently but i cant remember if i had the night sweats just before this, i suspect i did. Any advice would be great because its really effecting my sleep (not to mention making my feel gross). Xx

I have this- not all the time but generally a few nights in a row, and it’s quite hard to pin down to anything, it’s not always when I have pain or am on/near my period. I guess it could be hormonal though?
That sounds like me. I am on the pill continuously so i dont have a period to track it against but it just seems to hallen randomly for a few days, nothing for a week, kne random night then nothing for a few weeks...etc. not pattern at all. Maybe its just my random hormones?! X
It would be interesting to ask a doctor, because I am on the pill although I take breaks each month and still seem to get some of the symptoms of each stage of the cycle at about the right time. I’m trying to track it right now to see if there is any correlation
The idea with taking the combined pill is that it slows the growth of endometriosis and helps with some symptoms like heavy periods. I was a bit nervous about taking it at first too, and everyone’s reactions might be different, but the only side effect I got was that I felt quite nauseous, and that was solved by taking the pill at night after I’d eaten. I would try it and monitor any side effects and if you’re unhappy with them you can go back to your gp. And if you get more endometriosis symptoms still I would go back to the gynecologist as they then need to look beyond the pill as the only treatment option.
When you say you were diagnosed with 2, do you mean you've been diagnosed with stage 2 endometriosis or 2 endometrioma as these will be 2 very different things (although you can get endometriomas with endometriosis). If you arent getting pain but getting spotting it sounds like it might be endometriomas rather than endometriosis (for which the main symptom is pain). As OllieF said, everyones reactions will be different to the pill. The pill is often prescribed for endometriomas because it can help to shrink them i believe. Some people dont really suffer any side effects from the pill so it may help with the spotting if thats the main issue for you but its worth trying and checking back in with the GP if you have symptoms that you find problematic. It's entirely up tovyou if you feel comfortable to try it though because if the spotting doesnt really bother you, you might not be willing to take the risk of side effects. X
No problem. If its cysts it sounds more like endometromas. Endometriosis is usually only 100% diagnosed through a diagnostic lap (surgery) but can rarely show symptoms on scans but wouldnt usually be referred to as cysts. Endometriomas are often linked to endometriosis but just be cautious when reading advice in this group as the best thing for endometriomas wont always be the same for endometriosis as far as i'm aware. I dont know a huge amount about endometriomas but i did have them at one point so happy to chat any time you want 😊 i'm no expert at all so only go by what i've learnt over the years but sometimes someone to talk stuff through with can be useful. xx
If i hear anything next time i speak to the doctors i'll let you know. I'm going to try sleeping in really light pj's tonight and maybe leave the think duvet to my husbands side and use a lighter blanket on my side. Fingers crossed that will help. Xx
Hi I get this and not every night either. I try to sleep in less clothing, a cool room but sure it’s hormone related. I don’t know why to suggest as I haven’t found anything that works 😙
Hi! I get night sweats, and usually it's a few night in a row prior to my period... Not every cycle though, but I'd say I get this for 8 cycles out of 12 in a year. Talked to my GP about that a few years ago but she couldn't pin it down to anything as all my blood tests and chest x rays came back fine. Only when I did my own research I found the information that it's associated with an endometriosis...
Thanks, thats good to know. I've just had a full work up of blood tests with my gp so i'll see if anything shows up in the results but i suspect not. I dont have actual periods as i take my pill non-stop so my symptoms dont seem to have a pattern but i might start doing a diary to see if i can find a pattern in there somewhere. I've done some more research since posting and it seems night sweats are fairly common for people with endo, people with acid reflux and when starting to take or upping your dose of amitriptyline so thats me x 3. I guess i'll just have to try and manage it for now with lighter pj's, keep the house cool at night, have a spare set of bedding and pj's ready etc. Fingers crossed!
I go through phases of nightsweats & waking up soaking (argh too much laundry! 😅)
As other comments have said, it's hard to pin down.
I'm currently not on any hormones and can say it's quite random.
One thing I have found is that if I have anything sugary within the 5 hours before bedtime, it is pretty much guaranteed to happen - this includes fruit juice/ squash, sweets, alcohol.
Could be a cause or just another factor... Obviously all I named above aren't particularly healthy & can be linked to inflammation, so does make some sense. 🤷🏻♀️ Xx
Thanks for the reply. Luckily laat night was a good night but i'll keep that in mind for future because if i'm going to have a drink, sweets chocolates etc. It's usjally late in the evening so may be a contributing factor. I did wear my lightest pj's last night and slept under a lighter blanket so i'll keep doing that too for now. Xx
