Hi I am now 4 and a half weeks post op I had a laparoscopic removal of endometriosis around the bowel and also a hysterectomy

They advised me I could be bloated for a while afterwards but I’m 4 and a half weeks after op now and I’m so bloated still I am that bloated it’s really uncomfortable to breathe and my stomach looks that big it looks like I’m pregnant

Really suffering with it do you think it’s normal for me to be like this after this amount of time? Any advice would be great thank you

Have you spoken to your GP? That doesnt sound normal after 4 and a half weeks, they do use gas when they do the operation so they can see your organs, have you tried peppermint tea? I know that used to help some of my patients.

I have tried peppermint tea makes no difference

Your body would have absorbed the gas from the operation by now.

I would speak to you doctor.

Trapped wind can cause pain when breathing but best to get it checked out.

You must be so uncomfortable I'd speak to your doctor ask them about colpermin.....it's an IBS relief tablet which has peppermint oil in it helps with bloating trapped wind spasms.

how's your appetite been after the op?

Hi thanks for the advice

I’m already taking colpermin as I already suffer with IBS too nothing seems to be helping though

Asked my consultant secretary they said bloating this bad completely normal apparently after a hysterectomy

Also yes appetite has been down since the op been feeling sick a lot too so on anti sickness drugs as well

Anaesthetist at operation said feeling sick for weeks after apparently is very common with gynae operations just getting fed up of feeling sick and being so bloated now for what feels like weeks on end x

That's crappy what we have to put up with......least you know it's normal to feel so bloated. Lack of appetite and sickness wont be helping either. Sorry I can't help have you tried having something fizzy to drink...maybe a good burp might help things move a bit.

How are you feeling after your hysterectomy? You healing ok?

take care xx

Think I’m healing ok from hysterectomy it’s still painful if I stand up for too long or if I walk outside for too long though

Also hurts if I bend down still or if I try anything a bit too heavy x

It's still early days but good that your managing to move around a bit.

Take things slowly and hope your feeling more comfortable soon

Thanks for your reply I didn’t realise doing too much could make bloating worse? Good to know maybe I should slow down a bit if that’s the case!

Trying to rest as much as I can

Good to know others have had the same as me x

Do you take anything to help with the bloating? X
