Periods even more painful post lap, has anyone experienced this? My bladder has also gone into overdrive to the point I think they might have damaged me. My endo is quite mild apparently - and less than was seen on scan, where they thought it was stage 3 and possibly adenomysis. Surgeon said my op was really straightforward and womb looked healthy. Obviously got a lot of questions for consultant but just wondered what might happen next if everything was so apparently so simple. They did find endo on pouch of Douglas, removed stuck ovary and endometriosis. Had excision and ablation. In so much pain today! Thanks

I’m so sorry you’re suffering. Sadly ablation is not the gold standard for removing Endo. You want a surgeon who does excision. When they do an ablation they basically cut off the top but leave the root and your Endo will grow back quite quickly. With excision they remove the top and the root so it has to grow a completely new implant for it to cause issue.
Are you on any type of contraceptive? With Endo (and adenomyosis) it is super important to keep your hormones controlled. Endo feeds on estrogen, the more it’s let to do what it wants the more it grows. A hysterectomy isn’t a cure either because it can continue to grow even after menopause. You can only have a certain amount of laps (5-6) before there is too much scar tissue and you’re stuck living with the pain. So the contraceptives should help slow down (won’t stop it) the growth of new implants. I haven’t had a period in over 3 years, you don’t have to suffer.
I would for sure try and find a gynecologist who specializes in Endo. Sadly regular gyn don’t know enough about it and how to remove it. They also tend to leave areas behind and miss them. I’m in Canada and was fortunate to be seen by a specialized Endo clinic.
Keep hanging in there and get back to the doctor to find answers.
