Post-period Bladder pain

Morning!

Just a quick one - 3 days after my period, I get bladder pain or at least lower abdominal pain.

Anyone else suffer with this? I’d just like to know as I suspect I have endo. Once again, if this is a symptom I’m one step further in my investigations.

Hugs to all

Laura

Hi Laura. Sorry to hear this! How long does the pain last for? I find that I often get bladder pain (low abdo) when I go for a wee and then it fades. A bit unusual but I’ve been diagnosed with a UTI a couple of times too so not sure if it is related to the Endo!

It only last for a day or so, but always after my period. I wonder if it’s a surge of hormones and this it what it causes. It’s a nightmare tho - pain at various different places everyday of the month. The shoulder pain I get is the worst. But hopefully someone will come up with something to treat this infernal problem. Thanks for your reply! Xx

Bladder pain is my main endo symptom, they tell me it’s a UTI but no wee infection I’m actually going to the GP today with a sample as it’s constant , and no harm in checking.

I spoke to a really good consultant and hopeful Will get this confirmed soon. For me hot water bottle or wheat bag, over counter ibuprofen and paracetamol combined take the edge off, it’s constant for days even weeks sometimes but unlike a UTI it doesn’t get worse or better just stays the same.

I was also told to take antihistyme which I do for Hayfever, and also advices he suspects it’s a my uterus pressing or attaching to my bladder.

I know the exact pain when hoovering and bending it’s like a pulling pain.

Finger across we can all get this sorted very soon

The pulling pain you described is exactly that!! And it happens when I get out of bed just as get up and I can’t stand straight easily at all. I’ve had other symptoms for years now, but this quite a new one. It’s the exact pain also get around my liver and my lungs and shoulder area so I’m sure it’s related. I do track it and it’s as soon as my period ends every month. I’m sure it is related. I also don’t have UTI either - has those a lot as a kid but never since getting past about age 14. Thanks for info xx

What stage are you at with diagnosis? Are you just struggling and no investigations?

I also get bladder pain that feels like I have loose razor blades in my bladder. 😬

You poor thing. :(

Sadly I’m at an awkward time with the whole thing.

7 years ago I came off the pill - Rigevidon.

I was crazy angry on it. So for the sake of my husband and our marriage, I decided it was not for me. I also became depressed on the pill. Another reason I scrapped it.

4 years ago, I noticed my right shoulder would hurt during my period. I thought it was tension and muscle knots. Really excruciatingly bad pain. Caused bad headaches too.

3 years ago, it developed into affecting my breathing - not every month but at times I couldn’t sit up, lie down, stand or anything without gasping and clutching my right hand side ribs. (FYI My periods have remained about the same.) I did some research, as it only happened when I was on my period. I came across the phrase “thoracic endometriosis”, where the upper abdomen in affected and causes what they call referred pain to the shoulders. (Interestingly, during ectopic pregnancy, I believe shoulder pain is a symptom.) So I took this on board and kept a close eye on things.

2 years ago I went to get things sorted. An emotional wreck, I went to see my doctor. Sadly, as I’d moved a town over, I was now having to move surgery. So I’m still in the process of moving, due to wanting to find a good gyne gp. So in the mean time they referred me to a stand-in GP.

She didn’t listen, and basically dismissed my fears (that I’d tracked for 7 years by the way). I think because I’ve had a battle with anxiety in the last few years, and had CBT for it, she looked at my records and thought “we have a hypochondriac here.”

This past 6 months I’ve noticed this stabby bladder pain.

I am convinced I have endometriosis. I wouldn’t say it’s the worst kind but I’m convinced it’s there. Happily, it seems to be effecting me less of late.

I get the usual pains in my shoulders still. Actually I finished 5 days ago, but my shoulder is still sore this month. Bit annoying, but it has been a heck of a lot worse. Sorry try for the whole saga lol xx

Not a saga at all! It’s most people stories on here, being dismissed and in pain all the time, the moment it’s linked to a cycle we are doomed!

You 100% need to get to a GP and get referred, it’s not something that goes away if it is endo? Do you have children?

Not what you're looking for?
