Endometriosis and IVF

I honestly don’t know how to began, I know most of the ladies here, had even harder journeys, but I feel this is more than I was ever prepare for...

As some of you might know our frozen transfer ended in Chemical pregnancy and it was so hard for us to make our peace with it as my husband doesn’t want us to continue with IVF... however I convinced him to try naturally as we have been pregnant before... last month we took a trip to help us to move on, while we were away I was experiencing really sharp pain and my period was also late more than one week, we got back and I have my period but I was still worried so I went for scan and everything happened so quick, Ive been told that there is something suspicious in my left tube and I needed salpingectomy right away, the surgery happened two weeks ago, it was laparoscopy... the specialist told after the surgery that endometriosis had caused the blockage in my tube, it was endometriosis stage 3 that we are dealing with! also I had a cyst in my left ovary that it has been drained and perhaps the reason for unsuccessful transfer was endometriosis.

I'm in sock! how come all this has happened in my body in only few months! is this possible ?? or I had these conditions before hand and it has been missed? I had been diagnosed with endometriosis before but Not in my fallopian tube and not stage 3! I've been told over and over that there is nothing wrong with my body.

I'm so angry as I'm sure there is a very tiny chance for us to get pregnant naturally... with November approaching its a year in to IVF journey( if you don't count all the waiting and the tests and IUI that we had done before that).

Please share with me your thoughts and experience with IVF and Endometriosis.

Love xx

I’m sorry I have no advice - but I am in quite a similar situation so I wanted to reach out and say, the anger and frustration is real! And not helpful for trying to conceive... so we must try and let it go... easier said than done :-(

You are very sweet to write to me, hopefully things get easier for both of us. I also posted in fertility Network Group and some ladies shared their experiences with me, maybe if you have time have a read.

Best of luck xx

Hi mara,

So sorry for your struggles at the moment I understand completely. I was meant to be starting IVF a few months ago and had a hycosy to check my tubes were clear and a second ultrasound. I'd been referred for IVF as I am unable to concieve naturally and they found a large endometrioma on my right ovary. Even with the second ultrasound they still confirmed it was only my right ovary with endo. A month after my second scan I ended up in a&e with severe pelvic and abdominal pains and a further ultrasound was carried out where they actually found I have very severe stage 4 plus endometriosis but somehow this was missed on the first two scans so I'm wondering if they could have possibly missed something with you like they did with me. I was going to the doctors with all the symptoms since I was 16 but I just got told it was a bad period and some people get them.

I wish you all the best with your journey and I have everything crossed for you that you will have your bundle of joy.

Xx
