IVF with stage 4 Endometriosis

hello guys, I’m new here and I’m just about to undergo ivf with stage 4 Endometriosis diagnosis. I had some scans done, tubes looked okay hopefully, one ovary looked okay but the other one wasn’t clear enough according to the nurse that carried out my scan cause I was really constipated (not sure if that made sense). Discussed the result with doctor and he still advised to go ahead with the ivf.. at this point I’m not quite sure of anything. Anyone with similar story? I know our cases are always different but I just want to hear from people that have had similar cases. Thanks

Do you have symptoms from your endo?

yes very bad symptoms, pelvic pains and painful periods.

Hey. I have endo and had a laparoscopy before we started IVF and had an endometioma removed and it was also confirmed both my tubes were blocked so our only option was ivf. Luckily, I’m currently 14 weeks pregnant after our first transfer. We had a good few things against us, I have endo, I also have a low AMH for my age and my partner also had MFI. Hello lovely, I have severe deep infiltrating endo (with endometriomas in both ovaries too) and adenomyosis, in addition to a few other things and autoimmune conditions and my husband also had some issues. I am not going to lie... Our journey has been really hard and it took us 5 years but our miracle IVF baby is now 5 months old and sleeping next to me right now. May i ask did you have a lap or lupron depot before transferring?

I had both a laparoscopy for excision surgery around 5 months before transfer and Downregulation too. Hope this helps but please feel free to ask me any questions x

Do you know what protocol you will be having for your IVF? I also have grade 4 endo and pre laparoscopy and diagnosis i had three unsuccessful rounds with short protocol. Post diagnosis i had a round with an ultra long protocol which was successful, unfortunately i had a mmc but it is the furthest we ever got. We are now doing our 5th round and trying the ultra long protocol again. Might be worth looking at as it is recommended for those with severe endo to properly calm the endo before stims.

Thank you. Ultra long protocol is the same as a long protocol where you down regulate before starting the stims. The main difference is that in a normal long protocol you down regulate for only up to a month whereas for an ultra long protocol you down regulate for 3 months. I think natural protocol is something different.

I have deep infiltrating endometriosis, particularly on my bladder. I was awaiting surgery (third laproscopy) but decided to go ahead with ivf due to the wait times. I was very lucky to fall pregnant my second go, and I’m currently 23 weeks pregnant.

The round I was successful in I had a ‘natural transfer’, so none medicated.

They had down regulated me for egg retrieval so i managed that fine, but when they gave me estrogen in preparation for transfer I was in absolute agony with my endo to the point I couldn’t continue.

The none medicated cycle worked a dream for me, I did it alongside acupuncture to help my lining which I massively recommend!

Thankyou! It was all completely new to me too, and I honestly thought I’d have to give up - I’d never heard of a natural transfer. Yes you’ll get to discuss with your consultant, so write down any questions you have. Be sure to tell them about your endo, and ask what they recommend.
