Has anyone been diagnosed with endometriosis whilst having the mirena coil I have had my coil in for almost three years now and am now waiting for a diagnostic laparoscopy. Isn’t the coil supposed to help endometriosis?

Unfortunately the Mirena coil is not guaranteed to help, in a lot of cases it can but not all the time. I’ve had my coil in since May 2017 and was diagnosed with Endo November 2018 after experiencing awful periods, pain etc since around 2009. I had some laser surgery with my diagnostic lap but only stopped the pain for a few months and for me the coil didn’t stop my periods or the pain, since February 2019 I’ve been taking 2 contraceptive pills per day to tackle the spotting, pms and hopefully stop the pain but still not working all the time, although it’s slightly better, waiting for an MRI to hopefully find out more.
Sorry this hasn’t been a very positive message, just my experience but I’ve heard a lot of women have had one lap & mirena and it’s worked great for them. Just do your research and don’t be disheartened to try new things because everyone is so different
Take care of yourself xx
Thank you soo much it’s soo nice being able to speak about all this. Thank you xx
No problem, I only joined a couple of days ago because I’d had the worst pains I’d had in a long time and just wanted to see other people’s experiences and what they take for pain relief rather than reading shitty google diagnostics. It’s lovely to speak to real people! If you ever want to talk please feel free to give me a message
