I am due to receive a Decapeptyl injection next week (once a month for 3 months) due to various symptoms and showing signs of Endometriosis and suffering awful pain for over 8 months.
Should I go on this injection? I am extremely worried about the side effects.

I was given the decapeptyl injection as a trial and I have too say it was amazing for me first time I have been completely pain free in 10yrs, unfortunately my gynaecologist told me I canot get this injection again so my pains are returning absolutely devastated about this
hi so sorry for the late reply, the only side affects I encountered was a few nights of severe sweating apart from that I was great, no low mood or other menopausal symptoms but I suppose we all react differently x gd luck If you go ahead with it x
I've just had my second decapeptyl monthly jab. It is supposed to be for six months but can be extended while I wait for a laparoscopy. I was told it would take 3 months for things to settle down and see if it would work and I was warned that the first month would be more painful and I would have more symptoms than ever, which was the case and I do still have some pelvic pain right now, nearly six weeks in.
When you go in next week, I would check what the plan actually is, because I would not do that first month again for possibly just two months relief with all the side effects you can suffer. Is it possible that they meant they need you to commit for three months and if it works then they will continue? Or did they say it will be for a maximum of three months?
As for side effects, I was given add back therapy in a low dose HRT and I started that the day of the first injection. I still have had occasional hot flushes and headaches, though the headaches could be the HRT itself. My period was brief in the first month and I'm unlikely to bleed again, according to the registrar. I was absolutely dreading trying the injection because of all the possible side effects, especially because my mental health has been so poor on hormonal contraceptives, but I have largely been fine there.
It really is all about weighing up the risk and reward, which is very hard to do. On the day I went in for the jab/to discuss an alternative, I leaked urine for the first time after years of weird bladder stuff, suspected to be caused by endo bladder, and the risk felt worth it. Do you have other options? I was out of contraceptive options while waiting for the lap, so for me it was this or even more painkillers but live with the bladder and bowel dysfunction. It's a really personal decision. If you have any specific questions for me with my quite limited experience, please ask.
Hi Ttlaroo,I would say yes give it a try if this is what they are advising, I was on it for just over 2years and it was the best thing I did, but obviously I know it's not the same for everyone, just remember to take HRT, I was also told to take calcium, vitamin c and omega fish oil, I'm now 4 days post full hysterectomy. Good luck and hope it all works out for you xx
