Hi everyone, my dr has recently diagnosed me with endo however haven’t had a laparoscopy to confirm this yet. One of my symptoms is some bleeding from the belly button during periods, I can’t find anything about this online so wondered if anyone here had this or have heard of it?
Thanks

Yes I’ve heard of it and a member on here lost her belly button from it I hope you can catch it in time so it Dosent come to that.you will have to have surgery to remove it and quickly before it grows.
If you google Umbilical endometriosis you will find out a little more. But essentially it’s just endo tissue in your belly button shedding during your period.
It’s not very common and it took ages before anyone could work out what it was. I went to the GP for weeks and they were saying it was just a cyst and gave me some antibiotic cream lol.
Since being diagnosed, I have been taking double dose Desogestrel to stop the bleeding whilst I wait for surgery to remove it. Depending on how much endo growth you have in your belly button, as said below, you may not have a belly button after. That’s what my consultant said to me.
When I was having periods and suffering from the bleeding I was on ibuprofen and paracetamol and got those giant sticky bandages from boots to make sure it didn’t get onto my clothes.
If you need any more advice, just let me know x
Hope you are able to get them to get rid of it soon!
Thanks so much for your reply, that’s really helpful. My Dr put me on the combined pill and I’ve been told to take it continuously for 3 months and then have a week break to hopefully slow/stop the bleeding. Had an MRI scan but waiting results so I guess that will show any tissue that may or may not need to be taken out.
Really appreciate your reply and hope everything goes well for you xx
