My partner and I would like to start trying for a family so I had the mirena coil removed 3 weeks ago today but my first period hasn’t come yet and I still don’t have any twinges to indicate it might be on its way. I am not pregnant as I’ve tested several times since then.
When you had the mirena coil removed, how long did it take for your periods to return? I understand this can take from a few weeks to several months but I’ve also read horror stories of women who say their periods never returned and doctors weren’t able to tell why and so I’m terrified this could happen to me, especially as I was diagnosed with stage 4 endo and keen to start TTC.
What was your experience when you had the mirena removed?
Many thanks

I had my Mirena coil removed on the 22nd April for the same reason. I’d had it in for 9 years (2 different ones) and I was so worried as well. I had some bleeding when it was removed for a few days and then 2 weeks later I had a really light bleed (literally 3 days, only needed a pantyliner). I put it down to having the coil out and there being some women who have had light periods after it being removed.
I had my first proper period in 9 years start last Thursday, finishing yesterday. It was pretty grim, but I’m so pleased I had one - especially after reading the horror stories.
Now I’m just praying for a quick conception - for both of us!
I hope this gives you some hope! Feel free to message me if you want xxx
