Girls, Do you any of you follow this anti-inflammatory diet?
I've been gluten free since my first Laparoscopy 4 years ago and it has made the world of difference and I would highly recommend it however I'm just not sure if I can get on board with this anti-inflammatory thing!
I already can't eat half of the things I love by cutting out gluten - Why then, should I cut out my obscene addiction to a good cup of milky, sugary tea!?
They also suggest cutting out Meat, fish, poultry, processed foods, fast food (I'll currently smash 4 McDonalds cheese burgers - dissected without the buns! - a large fries and banana milkshake any day!!), refined sugars, coffee.. The list goes on, but will it really make a difference?!
I'm thinking about maybe cutting down - Having a couple of dairy free days a week (subsequently cutting down my sugar intake because.. No tea! dun dun duuuun..), a couple of meat free days and perhaps staying off the fast food and processed crap - Hoping that trying a little bit is better than not trying at all! Ha!
Let me know if you've tried it and how you're getting on!

I’m struggling with bowels and endo so trying gluten free but literally hate bread options, like chewing on polystyrene! I’m minimising gluten to practically nothing and also doing lactose free largely. It’s not helping me tbh, I’m struggling bowelwise and it’s probably too late for me as ready for the radical surgery now and just signed today for hysterectomy and ovary removal along with bowel resection 🙄
I’ve experimented with this a lot and have definitely found it helps! Basically I find it hard with my lifestyle to eat as healthily as I would like for my Endo so I try and eat according to when I get pain/ my different cycle stages. So I cut out inflammatory foods/items during my painful periods etc. So for me going organic and trying to avoid processed foods has massively helped but if you do the anti inflammatory when you need it most hopefully it won’t feel like too much of a chore...who knows you might feel so good you won’t want to go back to inflammatory foods 🙃
It's a lot to take on at once. I don't eat any cows milk dairy (can manage goat and sheep cheese) and am gluten free. These are a no brainer for me as I have no bowel control if I eat them !(sorry if TMI) I've been reducing my sugar intake. Lots of processed gluten free stuff is high in sugar so its an ongoing process. Since my surgery I've noticed that wine makes my pain increase. But whiskey and gin seem to be ok. I'm not a big drinker but good to have some options. I've stopped drinking caffeine but occasionally have dark chocolate however during my period this week I noticed that it made my pain worse!! How tragic is that!!! Meat wise I eat chicken once a week. Vegetarian for a few days and then eat fish. Oily fish like salmon is good for endometriosis because the omega 3 fat in it is antiinflammatory.
I'd say reduce slowly and focus on one or two things at a time. Your body will adapt and your taste buds change.
I’ve just started my gluten free diet does it really help? Was in hospital last week for 5 days as I was in so much pain which turned into infection 😩 my stomach will not go down I look 9 months pregnant any ideas how to reduce the swelling? The only thing I’m struggling with is milk with my coffee but need to find out what foods I can and can’t eat
Honestly, being gluten free has completely changed my lifestyle! I'm a different person! Occasionally I have the odd slip up and have something little (or don't check the ingredients properly! oops!) and it really affects me - I can be really sick and have awful stomach cramps and also get really fatigued and can barely keep awake! I
Oh wow really I’m on it then I can’t carry on like this finally got op date on 18th March but want to change my eating habits just don’t know where to start I’m so tired all the time I could fall asleep anywhere x
