Prostap injections (HELP)

Hi ,

Did anyone else only manage 1 month of prostap injections? I’m 4 weeks almost into my first month and I just hate it! I’m experiencing every symptom possible , severe anxiety/worry and depression and I’ve gained some weight.

I know there is HRT but I’m actually feeling pretty done in with anything medically induced going through my body.

I’m intending on telling the specialist I won’t be having another and I’ll just wait as I was until surgery.

Just wondering if anyone else had been in the same position and only had the 1 before coming off them?

Thank you.

Hello! I just popped on to say 'hang in there' if you can. A few years ago I experienced the same and someone tole me to stick it out for three months and I wouldn't believe the difference. They were right - it was horrific, and then I woke up one morning and I had my life back. In fact I had somebody else's life because I was better than ever!

Obviously your experience may turn out completely different but if you can tough it out, it could really help.

Hi, I only managed 1 month due to the headaches, weight gain, anxiety, hot flushes and tiredness, I literally couldn’t function felt like a zombie, my gp recommend I go off it he said could always go back at a later date if I wanted, my specialist understood, they did prescribe me northisterone but I’ve not taken that, so I’m just trying to manage with painkillers he prescribed me till my operation. Hope you managed to find something that works for you x

Hi . I would allow more time. I started my first round in March. The night sweats and feeling lethargic were the worst at first but has got better now. My doc has given me tibilone to manage the HRT symptoms as for the low mood and anxiety that comes and goes but I’ve always suffered with that I guess I’ve just learnt to live with it. Hang in there if you can because it has made a huge difference to my life I’m not in pain anymore just waiting for surgery date now.

All the best x

Hi I only managed 4 rounds off it and had to stop as it didn't agree with me waiting on outcome on next stage as I've tried different Mimi pills and the prostap... Good luck with everything x

In the same boat as you now. This is my third injection and I wont be having anymore. It's awful. Stuck in flight/fight mode. Cant sleep or eat. Not worth my sanity.

Hi there, I have been on decapeptyl injections now for the last 18 months. I too had all the side affects, and was going to give up. The hot flushes was so severe it meant I couldn't sleep a wink. However my consultant then put me on HRT, and I have since never looked back. I agree with the below by saying hang in there. The difference in my quality of life is remarkable. I am not longer spending a week in week bed each month and I'm constantly drugged up on painkillers. I am more active, have shifted weight (some, still a long way to go), and overall happier than I have been since. I also found the three month dose a lot easier on my body than the monthly dose. Hope it gets easier, and I would give HRT a go. Good luck!

Hey, I had a rough time with them to start with & I nearly didn’t have the third injection - but I went ahead and it was only then it gave me relief. For 6-8 weeks I felt amazing!

I started taking HRT on the day of my second injection x
