Recently diagnosed with endo. I'm 4 weeks post lap .. Worried about fertility.

Hi ,

I have been trying to conceive for just over a year. I'm 31. Since coming off the pill I have had a week of pre-menstrual spotting every month and mild to strong cramps and pain from ovulation to my period , my period would then last only a day and half. I had a laparoscopy 4 weeks and was diagnosed with mild endo on my bladder and , the lining of my pelvic cavity. My tubes and ovaries were unaffected. The endo was fully excised and I was advised to try naturally for 3 months before seeing fertility specialist. I ovulate regulary and my husband's sperm is normal.

My question is ; is there a chance that this was causing conception issues even though reproductive organs were unaffected? Also, I ovulated last Thursday and am experiencing the luteal phase pain as usual , but no spotting. I thought the lap would help the pain and cramps?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Can I ask what symptoms you had with the endo on the bladder as my gp thinks I have it there too it’s confirmed I have superficial endo but my bladder problems are a new thing x

No major symptoms of having it on my bladder but I do remember feeling a pressure when doing a wee (tmi sorry) and feeling like I needed to kind of change position to pass it easier ...if that makes sense ! That's gone now and I also notice I use the bathroom less than before , so like I can hold it longer x

The pain and cramps could be the surgery scarring stretching a little, I seem to remember a bit of additional pain for a couple of months after my lap but it did gradually ease off. With regards to infertility, don't give up. I have endo and PCOS and have suffered from infertility as a result. My endo was in my ovaries, tubes and pelvis so a little different. Our first took 18 months of trying and a mc but she's now almost 4. I'm currently 28 weeks with my second who is an IVF baby after 2 years of trying and another mc. It definitely hasn't been an easy journey but we got there in the end. I know that doesn't exactly answer your question but I wanted you to know that there's still hope, even when endo does effect your reproductive organs. Good luck!

Thank you so much for you reply and for sharing your happy ending ! It's definitely not an easy journey but I try to keep positive and know I am doing my best to help things along . My pain has completely gone the last couple of days ,usually it would be at its worse about now so I'm happy with that. Congrats on your pregnancy, wishing you all the best x
