Just a quick question which I'm hoping you can advise me on.
So, my gynaecologist has written to my GP to ask him to start a course of Zolaex for endometriosis. I phoned the GP today to see when it can be started and he said that he needs to write to hospital to get further info such as the dosage amount, when in my cycle I should have it, if I also need HRT, how long I will have it for and who will be monitoring me whilst on the injections?
Is the above normal? Can a GP not prescribe Zoladex without consent etc from the hospital? Had a look on google (as you do) and I can see that a course lasts 6 months and dosage amount is 3.6 (I know that I'm not to have HRT unless symptoms are troublesome).
Guess the GP is just making sure and covering himself but was hoping to start treatment asap to help with pain relief (fingere crossed).

I started last week, all surgery wanted was the letter, it said one every four weeks for six and start Tibilone after two. I’m not sure what’s normal though. I hope you get it sorted soon. Maybe your GP knows something others don’t
Thank you I'm guessing then it is because the hospital didnt provide this info - basically just told GP to start course of Zoladex and so he isnt too sure about the finer details lol.
Just hoping this doesnt drag on as quality of life is really suffering at the moment and so I'm willing to give anything ago
My guess is the hospital did not give all the info needed. It would be the hospital that would have to give all these details. Hope you get on with it as I know some people don't, for me it was a wonder drug. It increased my quality of life by 100%. I decided not to take the HRT prescribed so suffered from hot flushes occasionally. Good luck.
