Post total hysterectomy cyclic bleeding

Hi everyone. I had a total hysterectomy last September. My spotting afterwards stopped at 5.5 weeks post op.

Three months ago I started to spot again. It happens every 23 days for a couple of days (the same schedule my period was on).

My gynecologist did a quick exam and said she couldn't find anything aside from a red spot. She doesnt seem to be concerned.

I am worried that I have endometriosis growing in my vaginal cuff. Has anyone experienced that? Did you have to go for a revision surgery to remove it? I'm so worried and any advice is so appreciated.

I read recently that nearly 20% of women still bleed cyclically post hysterectomy, my gynae confirmed that cyclical bleeding was possible. If you’re not in pain I wouldn’t be worried (just a bit annoyed personally). Hope you’re healing well otherwise xx

Thanks for your reply. I believe that is the case for women who had a supercervical hysterectomy, but I had my cervix removed :(

My gynae was talking about total hysterectomy (it’s the only kind their clinic do) so definitely possible after cervix removal.

Interesting! My gynecologist told me it's not possible and the bleeding must be from my bowels (which is definitely not the case!). She doesn't specialize in endo though...

Are you on Facebook? The group Nancy’s Nook is amazing. It’s not a chat group but a learning library full of world-leading evidence based information about endometriosis and its treatment. You may well find some answers there. They have articles about endo in really diverse areas all over the body and hysterectomy so worth having a search.
