I’m after some advice. I had the diagnostic laparoscopic surgery around 4 weeks ago this is the second time and, they found endometriosis around both ovaries my uterus and at the back of my womb they managed to get it all out. I’m now taking double the dose of the mini pill Cerelle but I’m still bleeding on it. I’m trying to stop my periods all together. I’m really really worried about my fertility and getting pregnant in the future as I keep bleeding. Does anyone have any advice as I’m so worried? Thanks in advance 😊

I had a laparoscopy 3 years ago, they found endo everywhere, removed it all etc, but took me off the pill and inserted the marina coil during surgery. I bled very lightly for a month and haven’t had a period since! I was taken off of the pill due to it making me severely depressed etc. The coil has been fantastic for me, so that could be an option? Hope things work out lovely x

Hi, if pill isn’t working to stop periods then you could try something like prostap to induce temporary menopause. But you’d need it prescribed by hospital consultant I think. What I would do is attempt to contact consultant’s secretary now before things get anymore crazy in nhs and explain that the pill is not working to calm things down and you don’t think you’re going to be able to get the best out of your surgery with things as they stand.

It’s quite early days in your recovery as well so take it easy on yourself and concentrate on getting well, lower your stress levels, I know a lot of endo ladies who bleed in response to stress.

With regard to fertility I would apply the same advice to you as anyone else. Have a baby when you are in a secure, happy relationship. Try to have one by 30 if you have endo, if you are over 30 try sooner than later. That’s all you can do, stage of endo doesn’t always dictate your ability to conceive, I had stage 4, several laps. Got pregnant easily (at 30) had 2 mc due to adenomyosis and then got pregnant with my son.... all within the space of 6 months. We were told chances were very slim (from 25-30 when needed multiple surgeries) and it put us through mental torture and stress, we missed out on a lot of happiness and living during that time. Don’t let it consume you, have faith your time will come.

Feel better soon x

Hi, can I ask how long you have taken the double dose of Cerelle? My nurse suggested I could try double dose but she couldn’t find any evidence it helps (more than one tablet) with stopping bleeding as I can’t find much info online about it been helpful for endo. The best treatment for me has been Depo provera but I imagine you may not want to take this is if you are thinking of starting a family soon as it can sometimes take a little while for periods to restart x

I'd say 4 weeks is still early for the pill to work to see if it will stop bleeding - it took me about 3 months to be period free but I did get there, just took a bit of time. Once I had no periods though symptoms were dramatically improved and I was able to manage them much more. (Not completely gone but much more able to do daily life!!)

Everyone is very different though so keep in touch with your medical professionals
