Hi! So I am 19 and have had issues with extremely intense period cramps for 4 or so years now- I know I am young but unfortunately my periods were so heavy and painful I would not be able to move. As a result the doctors started me on the pill- I bled for 6 months straight on the first pill I took and another 3 months on the second I was prescribed, ending up anemic. I was then prescribed the hormonal injection - my periods stopped but I still had cramps and I was vomiting every week for multiple days. After this I took a break however, the very heavy and painful periods were still debilitating - having moved to uni at this point it was very hard to cope as no one was with me when I was unable to move and I went to the doctor's once again. I was prescribed the marina coil - the experience of having it inserted was quite traumatising - with no painkillers and just myself and my GP in the room- the cramps following were very debilitating too. After waiting now 8 months for the coil to improve I am experiencing cramps everyday which are so painful I can't walk further than a few meters, I vomit from the pain and I struggle to sit down because there feels like there is something up my bum. I am continuing to go to the doctor's and after seeing another GP have been told (not for the first time) that she thinks I am very likely to have Endometriosis. I am posting because I was wondering if anyone else was told to try out many contraceptives before being checked for endo? Does anyone have any tips for surviving the next few months with Covid before I can get checked?- I waited 4 months for a GYN appointment only to have it cancelled. And does anyone have any temporary ideas to soothe pain because I rarely have an hour without the cramps ? Sorry for the long rant! Thank you 💞

How many contraceptive treatments did you have to be put through before getting a diagnoses?
Hi, I am so sorry to hear you are going through all that. I've been in a similar position to you. I am also 19 and only had my laparoscopy last month where they found endo. I also was bleeding for months straight, sometimes more than once a month, and had horrendous pain. I was told to try contraceptives before we decided to do the surgery. I tried 2 different pills (gederal and cilest), but they didn't help. My gynaecologist has been amazing though and it was a joint decision between both of us to have a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and try the mirena coil. I got it all done in the same day, but I was always recommended trying contraceptives first because they are less invasive and have less risks than surgeries or procedures. I'm sorry your appointment was cancelled, but make sure you do get an appointment at some point and make it clear to them how much this is affecting you. Tracking your symptoms and the bleeding is really useful for me and helps to show your gynaecologist what you're experiencing over longer periods of time. Let them know that what you've been trying so far isn't working, and don't be afraid to stand up for yourself if you feel like you aren't being listened to properly. Make sure that whatever you try next is something that you are happy to do. I understand how horrible this must be for you, and I really hope things improve soon X
You shouldn’t have to go through that at all and I’m sorry for that what you need to do is demand a laparoscopy!quick this is not a general gyn but through an endometriosis specialist you have no right to suffer that way please be persistent with your g.p just so you know I’ve not gone through anything I tried a pill but that was my choice and I manage it naturally and I’m now trying for a referral to a specialist you don’t need to go through all that at all
