Sharp stabbing pain like a hot knife in my lower stomach

Now would of been my monthly cycle but due to me been on the Depo injection I’m not bleeding which is a bonus but over the past few days I have still been getting really bad period pains and today I have started experiencing sharp stabbing pain in my lower stomach like a hot knife is stabbing me.

I was coming back from the school run this morning and had to crouch down in a ball because of the pain?

I phoned my GP and was told that there is no appointments and to call back tomorrow, I was going to go to A&E but after about 10 mins i was able to get back up and walk home but still in pain, I took 45mg of codine and curled myself up in bed at 10am and woke up at 14:50pm.

Them sharp pains seem to have stopped but the period pains have got worse.

What is this pain and should I be going to A&E?
