GNRH injections and associated weight gain?

I just wondered if anyone had had an experiences of weight gain whilst on GNRH injections?

Hi K-Endo,

I was on GNRH injections for around 6 years. My weight fluctuated during this time but only the odd few pounds. I can't say that there was any drastic gain or loss.

Thank you for your reply , I’ve internet searched it and many sites are saying one of the symptoms was weight gain. Did you experience any other symptoms?

Yeah unfortunately i did have other side effects. Early menopause symptoms - Insomnia, headaches, irritability, hot flushes and night sweats. However, i was prescribed HRT after 3 months. My consultant at the time felt it was best to let all the symptoms start before taking the HRT as this would give it a better chance of having a positive effect. These side effects though were by far easier and more manageable than the endo pain and heavy bleeding i was experiencing.

I was on Zoladex on and off for 6-9 maths at a time & never had any weight gain - main symptoms were headaches and flushes but the HRT they prescribed alongside it really helped xx

Hey K-Endo. I finished my treatment going on two months now and I've gainded around 7KG in 6 months and I´m at my highest weight ever and feel like im retaining a lot of water, even though I´m being carefull with what im eating and exercising pretty much every day. I suppose its a fairly common side effect, but not everyone reacts the same. Here's to hoping we will just shrink down whenever our boddies are capable of bouncing back.. soon I hope =)
