Feeling so low

Hi everyone,

So I had my first laparoscopy on Thursday afternoon which confirmed I’m plastered in endometriosis, my left Fallopian tube is completely blocked and consultant can see it’s spread and wrapped around my bowel. He said it was too risky to remove any of the endo without a bowel specialist present so I’ve now got to wait for a colonoscopy to see if it’s penetrated my bowel and for a further op.

I’m absolutely petrified of what’s to come next, we’ve been trying for our 2nd baby for nearly 4 years with 2 miscarriages. I’m petrified we’re never going to get our rainbow baby now especially with only one working tube.

I’m in absolute agony from the op, I feel I have a chest infection coming too not sure if related to the op but I feel I can’t cough and clear my chest due to the amount of pain I’m in.

I also received no aftercare advice so unsure when I can shower, when I’m supposed to remove dressings etc.

Just feeling very lost and low right now 😔

Hi, sorry your feeling low. The anaesthetic can make u feel quite blue when it's not good news. I showered 2 days after my op but kept covered for a week. I also made an appointment with the nurse to re dress after 4 days to check all OK as I was worried. Fingers crossed all works out and anew arrival surprises you x

It will make u feel better, and they can see if you have a, chest infection or just where the tube went down and is inflamed too. Get lots of cuddles and peppermint tea x

Yes I’m sending hubby down for peppermint tea and some more dressings so I can have a shower later on too x

Hi, go visit Dr Tamer Seckin in NY, he is fantastic and has to be one of the top endo surgeon specialists in the world. This skill level of surgeon is important. He normally has a team of other surgeons in room during surgery, ie bowel surgeon etc. I couldn't give you better advise to fix your situation. ! I hope my years of research helps.

I do think it's worth it, to properly get rid of your pain, at the right skill level. He doesnt leave any endo behind like other unskilled surgeons. I know it's just a dream. Could ask his office for recommendation for surgeon in UK that practices the golden standards.

By what you're telling me, your surgeon in not the best! That is shocking. It depends on what type of bandages / stitches they used to close you back up, for if you can shower etc. Ring your hospital and demand some answers, or run a mile from your very useless surgeon. With my bandages, I got to pat them dry after a shower. But they were special bandages etc.

You can call the ward you were discharged from to ask about aftercare and explain you were discharged with no instructions (disgusting treatment) or your GP surgery if you prefer.

Post lap is always a depressing time as you take in the impact of diagnosis and deal with the effects of anaesthetic but your surgeon did the correct thing. I assume now you get referred to a BSGE centre and get treated by specialists. Although the idea of a second opp is rough, you want a good job done on you not a botched one. A specialist will want to preserve your fertility especially when you explain how important that is to you. Don't give up hope yet. This is just another step on a complicated treatment journey :)

My chest got very 'bubbley' with gas under my ribs but fortunately I escaped an actual infection. Really hope you do to. Wishing you a swift recovery from this surgery. X
