Make sure you have someone for the first couple of days at hand to help you! Perhaps get some ready meals or something easy to keep you going!
Take some baggy clothing, in case you end up staying over night. Baggy clothing will be your ultimate friend for the next week or more.
For the first couple of days after you’ll probably need to take the pain relief they give you, I took mine every 4-6 hours as recommended and it kept everything manageable! However, I’d also say make sure you increase you fibre uptake. I drank a lot of pineapple juice and tea, as well as more veggies to make going to the toilet as easy as possible.
If I think of anything else I’ll drop another message.
What I will say is, it’s not a horrible procedure, it may seem like it the first 48 hours after but it eases off 😁. Make sure you get plenty of rest, don’t take things too quick and know you’re limits.
Thank you so much! I’m really nervous I’ve never had anything like this before. My little girl is stopping at my mums Thursday night and she’ll be at preschool Friday so I’ll get a few hours rest then her dad will be at home most of the weekend so I should be okay xx
That’s good!!! I couldn’t prepare for mine unfortunately but they are all the things I wish I could have done to make my life easier!! Wishing you all the best, really happy for you that you’ve managed to get it sooner! 😁
Try to get some prune juice for meals after the lap. U will need to make sure u go easily to the loo cos u won’t be able to push.
Also peppermint tea is the best. Castor oil packs for ur lower back n shoulders. Try not to eat eggs n fish and tomatoes for the first 4 weeks cos it helps internal healing faster. (This is something they won’t tell u in a hurry)
Have a lot of ginger tea (freshly grated and boiled) can make a pot every morning for the day. Ginger helps w inflammation.
Make sure u have lots of pillows to get comfy. Will be difficult to sleep on ur sides cos of internal stitches so any comfort will help.
Don’t use ur stomach muscles the first 4 weeks so u don’t tear anything inside.
Lots of vitamins..... curcumin, vitamin E, osteocare liquid.... u may wee a lot so prepare for trips to loo. Drink lots of water to clear out anaesthetic. Pillow for travelling is a great idea yes baggy clothes as Ellie Samara mentioned.
Whatever u do try to rest a lot. It’s tricky to do but remember that’s when the body heals best. (Movies/series and books to read after the first few days to keep ur mind occupied.) try to walk a bit in the house to get a bit of circulation but mainly, listen to ur body. I hope everything goes well. Lots of love n best wishes for speedy recovery
🙏💗
The only other advice I would give is make sure you have lots of soft foods in the house for afterwards.
I’ve had 5+ laps now and I always forget how much I struggle to go to the toilet for the the days following - hurts too much to push (sorry probably to much information). It may also be a good idea to get some stool softener, something like Fybogel maybe.
Hope it goes well xx
Your* sorry!
Good luck with your surgery... Comfy clothes, peppermint tea and a good Netflix series to binge watch xx
Cushion for the car journey home to put between tummy and seat belt x
How did your lap go? Hope everything went well and you got the answers you wanted xxx
I’m absolutely plastered in endometriosis, one of my Fallopian tubes is basically destroyed so that’s why we been struggling for baby. They think it’s all attached to my bowels too so I’ll have to have a second op and a colonoscopy to see if it’s in my bowel xx
