Hi everyone,

I’m just wondering what time people got let out of hospital when they had afternoon surgery? xxx

Are you having a laparoscopy?

I was afternoon but got kept in as I was very sick but it was planned (the overnight stay) as I live quite far from the hospital

Good luck x

I had mine in the afternoon and also had to stay in as my op took longer than expected.

I was first on the afternoon list and got home about 9pm. Despite having a low BP, feeling dizzy and not passing urine. I wasnt happy to go home but went anyway. Being a nurse I was worried but all was fine. Suffered massively with constipation despite not taking codeine so beware. Good luck xx

Ah god it’s awful isn’t it! I’ve just gotten home after drinking so much water and passing the tiniest bit of urine x

As long as you have started, that's the main thing. Hopefully you'll get a good nights sleep. I found I couldnt lie on my side and the umbilical stitches were pulling. Use pillows to get yourself comfy.xx

That’s what I’m really struggling with. 2nd night post lap and only getting a few hours sleep :( xx

I had mine in the afternoon 1:30pm... I didn’t get let out until 9pm because I don’t react well to anaesthetic and really struggled to wake up 🙈 It’s amusing looking back but can be scary. Just kept talking rubbish and falling back to sleep apparently.

However.. the woman in the same room as me was let out very soon after - only a few hours, if that!

Usually you are able to go as soon as you can eat and pass urine and feel well enough to go home.

My afternoon lap didn’t start until around 4pm, I was out of the operating theatre by 6:30, and stayed the night. It was good to be there overnight as the anesthesia made me quite nauseous and dizzy. The nurse on call was very nice and attentive to me. Was also constipated for a few days- stopped my pain meds on Day 3 post op and drinking apple juice helped massively. I was quite sore but it was much less intense than the burning, sharp, corkscrew endo pain I experienced before the excision.

I had my op on 6th January at 15.30, I was in theatre recovery by 17.30 and normal recovery by 18.00 and I was allowed home at 19.30.

It was my first general anaesthetic and I was sick a bit but because I was drinking and had been to the toilet I was allowed home. Which personally was where I wanted to be! They did ask me to stay an hour longer but let me go when I asked.

Good luck I hope all goes well for you!

Hi I had my op mid morning I was opened up so I was in hospital 3 days (docs didn't know at first I had endo) but was kept in due to my BP levels being very low otherwise, all great. Op not as bad as I expected. I am on week 13 post op and now running around like I used to!! Good luck
